  • Where is the Centre of Gravity on 2006 X30

I want to install a boat lift and the installer needs to know where the Centre of Gravity is on a "Dry" (i.e. no fuel and nothing stored on board) 2006 X30 with a MCX VRS 5.7ltr engine.

I have looked everywhere but can't find any reference to the C of G for any boats in the MC range.

    Can anyone help please.

    Paul

Sorry, Paul, wish I could help but I don't think I've ever seen that information listed any where.

I don't have a lot of experience with this, but I've had a couple of boat lifts installed and have never had this question asked. The usual issue is supporting the hull properly. If you do that, I can't image there would be an issue that would require knowledge of where the center of gravity is.

What kind of boat lift is it going to be?

I would start with the location of the axles on the trailer, that should get you pretty close.
Being on the water is best, but when I'm not on the water I'm on TT.

Never seen someone ask for the center of gravity before. As others have asked what kind of boat lift is it?

On mine I just pull the boat forward enough to ensure I am making contact along the full length of the lift and then start bringing it up.

As for the CoG I would assume it would be a little bit off center towards the back of the boat due to the engine. Maybe somewhere around 2 ft or so v0v. Thats just guessing though

If you have a trailer for your boat, the CG would be about 30 cm (gotta keep it metric!) in front of the centerline of the axle(s). If you don't have a trailer, find a picture of your boat on a trailer and estimate what the distance is. That would be close enough to use for configuring the boat lift.

I have an 06 as well. Have your dock builder know that the back of the hull is stepped up. In short if you are going to do a 2 beam support system like i did the back 1/4th of the boat wont be sitting on the lift. This of course isn't good as thats where engine/ tranny are. All the weight was forward and there was a serious bow in my beams

Since i didn't pay for the set up off the lift i had to figure it out myself. I measure that back section of the boat and bought 1x8" pvc "lumber", cut to length at an (the ends being cut at as sharp of an angle as my compound miter saw would allow to aid in pulling the boat in and out) counter sunk screws into existing beams and carpeted. Works perfect and weight is balanced. No more bow on the beams

I was forced to do 2 beam support because during the dry season every inch is valuable and setting up the bunks like on the trailer with some supports being higher than others would literally mean not getting the boat out. Right now the bottom of the lift is an inch or so above the ground. (And it is dredged)

I don't have pics on me since i am on vacation but can get them to you next week if you like.

The boat lift is from Golden Manufacturing in Fort Myers FL and is a two post lift http://www.goldenboatlifts.com/elevator_boat_lifts.php

Thanks very much - I should have thought of that as the trailer is for the boat and it balances fairly well on the two axels. I will go and measure it now.

I've found the CG has been right around the middle to just in front of your rear tower brace. Plus/minus 4" or so.
