I can't say they are the same either, but both rudders pictured in that thread are at least very similar to our old and new rudders. Also, your description of the handling improvements matches what we found with the change. It's a beautiful thing.

There is no issue with the mechanics of the install. The shaft diameter has to be the same and that MAYBE where the issue arises. We have done this to a 2002 PS197 and it needed the port changed because of a .010 shaft difference.

Here is my offer...the first person with a 2002 or older 230/X30 that brings it to me and can leave it for about a week I'll make the swap at no charge and supply everyone here with pics and part numbers.
          Who's first?

              MYMC -

How about a first class ticket to Seattle and we'll do it in my garage? Seattle is lovely this time of year - if you like GRAY skys.

                  Mike -

I've got plenty of miles on United - there code share partners with US Scare.

I'll probably be in your area (without the boat) in early to mid Dec. 2005 fot work. I'd love to stop by the shop.

                    MYMC,

Perhaps a year-by-year list of part numbers for the rudders would indicate which ones are the same?

                    I.E. 2001 uses part #____
                    2002 uses part #____
                    2003 uses part #____

and so on. Maybe I'm thinking too simplistic here?
                    I was njskier on here.

Here is a picture of the rudder on my '02 X30. It does appear to be the old version.

There are only two part numbers we are dealing with here...so I will get both in hand and figure this out. No need to waste sky miles and as always the door is open so feel free to come by if you are in the area.

Yup, that's the rudder we just replaced. New one looks just like what Ric posted in the other thread, although I don't know if they are actually the same.

Is there only one 2006 rudder that fits all the 2006 MasterCraft boats, or are the '06 rudders model-specific?

Are there any aftermarket rudders out there from third-party manufacturers, like there are different companies making props that will fit MasterCrafts?
