'06 Rudder on '05 X-30

Hey guys, clear up a little confusion for me.

I should be able to purchase the '06 rudder and install it on my '03 X30?

No other items to buy?

Rudder is bronze (or at least bronze in color)?

As I understand it, YES, theoretically, remove the old rudder and install the new one. As MYMC states in a few threads above, you can use the same tiller arm and the rudder port should not need to be replaced. I would guess that there may be some type of orings and/or seals on the rudder shaft that may need to be replaced or do these orings and/or seals come with the new rudder?

The dealer that I am talking with says it also need a new tiller arm. If so, its no big deal - its $38 bucks. The rudder port is $90 dollars.

The install time to replace the rudder and tiller arm is less than 1 hour. I do not know how much for the rudder port - if needed.

No, I bought the boat used and as I understand it the tower was added at the factory. I still like the look and design of the '01-'04 towers better than the '05, but oh well, you get what you get when you buy used. I am warming up to it.

Well, I ordered the '06 rudder from MYMC yesterday. Hopefully will be here next week. I am going to try and install it myself, but I won't be putting her in the water until next year. I'll try and take some pictures when I do it and tell you how the install went.

I bought the rudder and tiller arm too. The install itself looks pretty simple, but I'll have to check and see if I am capable of the contortions necessary to get back there (V-drive) without removing the exhaust silencer.

I am getting mine during our Xmas break. I am having the dealer do the install. At this same time, they are going to install the '06 Lenco Trim Tab and an additional bilge pump, since my '02 only came with one located in the back of the boat.

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That looks alot different than the one they installed on the '02 197.

MYMC - can you comment on this?

Does the rudder that Bigmac purchased look like your new rudder? Can you snap some pictures of your new rudder?I am getting mine install either the week before Christmas or the week after.

I am also installing the '06 Lenco Trim Tab and a second bilge pump.

I'll take pics and let everyone know the results.
