  • Putting hinges on seats

I'd rather have the seats hinged over the cooler on the starboard side and over the batteries on the port side on my 2012 X-15 instead of having the cushion removable. I think the newer boats have them hinged. Has anybody installed hinges on these seats? If so, what hinges do you use and what gas shocks?

There is some info around but its very vague to be honest. I have been thinking about doing a hinged cooler seat cover for my x2 and have spent hours trying to find a straight answer and am under the impression a solid answer doesn't exist.

I'd probably start with great Lakes skipper to see if they have the hinges.

This thread had a nice solution that's inexpensive.

Sorry, but unfortunately I don't have the part number for them.

Does adding the hinges to a non hinged seat still allow for the cooler to be removed?? Seat doesn't block opening? I have a 2007 X2 and would like to do this.

My cooler seat came hinged from MC and the seat I just added hinges to opens up just as far as the cooler seat.

I look forward to finding the hinges. I will add them to the cooler cushion and the cushion behind the drivers seat. I think the spring supports would also be an easy add on.

Can you ask them for a part number? This is on my short to do list!
