  • 2012 model - are the medallion problems all fixed now?

Warranty is likely finishing for many 2012 models (3 years I believe?). I've been reading through the long thread on the problems with the 2012 medallion instrumentation system but its now 2015. How are owners fairing? is the system now running as it should?

My 12 X-15 runs great now. Had to put Zero Off in to replace Perfect Pass. All gauges and computer are fine.

Yes, the problem is fixed... they stopped using medallion. that fact that you have the doubt in the back of your mind should tell you something. My 2013 x2 is for sale, the first question I get asked if it has the medallion system.

        We have had good luck

We have a 2012 we have over 200 hours on ours without any issues. Just make sure the new software is uploaded. This site has a ton of info about the updates and the setting within the system.

I put 190 hours on my X45 with the medallion system before I upgraded to an X23 and if you have the new software then you are fine. The only issue that I ever had was the plug and play ballast that came from the factory. It was terrible. we ended up adding three new pumps and switches and everything worked fine. 2012 had a bad reputation but MC fixed all of the issues.

I would love to hear some more input on this as well, I am looking at a 2012 with medallion system big screen and just need that little more comforting before I pull the trigger.

I have 2012 Medallion and all gauges work fine once the .54 software came out. We also added a driver's side remote to prevent changing screens in order to change songs. This was a great $50 upgrade that took fifteen mins to install.

I had a 2012 X15 which I bought new and was my first MasterCraft. After buying it, I couldn't understand why anyone would ever buy a MC and where MC got its reputation for quality. Cruise control didn't work, tabs didn't work always, and the screen was slow and didn't always accept touch screen input. The dealer then replaced the PerfectPass with a GPS based system, and software updates took care of the other issues. After that, I was very happy with the boat and MC. So happy that I traded it this year for a 2015 X30. My 2012 lasted less than two weeks on my dealer's lot.

I would make sure the software is upgraded, then take an extensive test drive testing the cruise at various speeds, testing the ballast, and testing the tabs. If it all works right, I bet you will be very pleased with the boat. Good luck.

Luckily the boat I am looking at has the zero off GPS. So just to confirm, after you both received the update to v .54, everything worked perfectly and you had no regrets? I guess would it justify enough for me to ignore 2012's and look at 2013's?

                      2012 X2

I'm going to buy a 2012 X2 tomorrow. I am going to go out on a lake with it to make sure everything is fine but I've researched these problems for a month and I'm convinced they are fixed. Hopefully everything checks out because I'm ready to get one. I sold my 1997 Prostar with LT1 that I had for over 10 years a month ago and have been looking for a X2 ever since.

Same as others...all issues with PP not holding speeds were fixed with Zero Off. That was the only issue I ever had and CincyMC was on top of it from the beginning.

Mardo, if that 2012 doesn't work out. My 2013 is still available.

Can you tell me what this is / where you got this? Sounds great (pardon the pun!)
