I still haven't ponied up the squash to buy a new one yet. I Gorilla glued my broken one. Actually lasted about a month and broke again.

I'd be happy to mail mine to you as a template to make an aluminum one if the cost is less than $65...
If I had a bridge-port I'd make them for everyone. Seems like it would be a fun project.

There are many online machining services. Draw it up and get a price.

Volume is going to be a huge factor.

I am not familiar with the door, but would a strong latch just mean something else potentially more expensive breaks when the door is bumped?

^nice diy work ryan. interested to hear how it holds up. is that the latch that holds the door open against the observers wall, or the one that holds it closed across the bow entry?

          here is what i did

          Epoxy glued it together
Drilled two small holes laterally through both pieces (after glue hardened)
          glued in two finish nails
cut off excess nail and ground flush the bevel edge

works perfect ... cost ... zero

Moose, This is the latch for the bi-fold billet doors which open just below the walkthrough section of the windshield. This flimsy plastic component of the latch is the only thing that keeps the doors folded closed into the side walk though wall. What I don't get is... MC puts a set of expensive billet doors in these expensive boats and use a 10 cent latch system, Then want to charge their customers a ridiculous sum to replace this faulty part.

Have some pride MC. Enough of these latches are breaking under minimal stress. MC should redesign the latch and let owners know they can get a free redesigned latch from the dealer. It would cost MC minimal and gain them some customer satisfaction...IMHO.

              ^^^

Correct, I'm talking the sliding latch to keep the folding billet doors "open".

Why not a billet sliding latch? Or even anodized aluminum?

                  Machine shop, eh?

I have both of my pieces. I may take it off and bring it to a machine shop over winter layup...

My door slide latch broke over the weekend... Has anyone sourced an aluminum replacement?

I've contacted Deb about purchasing the plastic one she has for sale but wanted to follow up on this thread if anyone had found another (cheaper) source.

So the part number from MC is: 55-616501. I had posted one on the parts for sale a few days ago and sold it just this morning for $45. Dealer's cost is $48 plus shipping from TN. Full retail is $77.00 We could never figure out why they were so much either and we used to replace them all the time. I've researched it, and could never find anyone that could make it for us.........so we continued to purchase them 6-10 at a time. Sorry I don't have anymore~~~ Deb ([email protected])

I still haven't coughed up the $100 CAD for a new one yet, I know it will just break again.

Didn't know if anyone was still interested in aftermarket options for these. I am in the process of getting the slide latch machined out of aircraft grade titanium. Just wondering if there would be any interest among the group. Hoping to be able to sell mine for less than MC wants for junk plastic. Not trying to get rich. Would like people to have a quality product more so. What MC should have done in first place.
