  • X23 Surf Wave- Worth it?

For those who have changed to the X23 from another MC, are you glad you did it?

If surfing is your favorite thing to do (or one of your favorites), is the X23 worth the extra money?

I can get a decent wave with my X25. However, I'd like an easier to obtain, more predictable, no bags on seats and in the isle if at all possible, wave.

If you still need sacks on the floor in an X23 than I'll stay with my X25.

Its a big jump in cash for me and I'd like to hear from the pro's what you think.

    Thanks guys.

Not a 23 but gen 2 star. I love mine and think it's awesome. I've ridden x20 not 23 and my star is as good. No bags except gen 2 and we can ride with only a driver and have awesome wake. I'm sure the 23 is even better. What is really nice is the flexibility of steep long big small that you get. Best bet is to try one with someone that knows how to dial it in.

I've surfed a stock x20 and x23. Both were amazing with 2 people in the boat. Push a button and switch sides. No bags to be seen anywhere unless you open a storage compartment. If I had the cash and only surfed it'd be hard not to look at one

The bigger longer wake takes some getting used to. I have a couple of friends with x2s that are used to the short wake and don't even really use the back half if the wake.

I've surfed the 23 and it's incredible - flat out hands down no question way better than anything I've been able to achieve with my 25, the pocket is way longer! BUT the best deal I could work out was my boat (all options, 70hrs) + 51k. I had to walk away, I couldn't justify a 51k surf wake

The X23 is worth every penny IMO. I made the switch from an X45 with GEN1 in which I very rarely surfed to now I surf 50/50. The X23 is a great all around boat.

I have not added any extra ballast to my boat and the wave is money every time we go out. I literally pick which side I want to ride and I'm done. I never liked surfing before this boat but now I find myself liking it a lot more as I primarily wakeboard. I do realize that with age its going to start hurting more so I figured I would start getting better at surfing.

The wakeboard wake on this boat is better than my X45. I was running 3k in ballast on X45 and the wake was good but I find the wake on the X23 is a bit peakier.

I believe this boat was a home run for MC and truly think its on par with a G with the G edging it out on the wakeboard wake and this taking home the gold on the surf wake.

Go for a test drive, I promise you will leave ordering a new one.

I've surfed the x23 with stock ballast only and loved being able to go out a little wider and also use the full length of the wave. It gets boring just having to stay in one small sweet spot where as the sweet spot for this wave is the entire length of the wave. If wife didn't only want a 20' boat (x20) we would be getting a x23.

I haven't tested the X-23, but we are really happy with our X-20. For me, it was very tough to justify the cost to upgrade, but I am happy with the decision. We mainly surf and these boats produce an amazing wake with stock settings. I hated the time it took to setup our X-2 for surfing and losing compartment and seating space to ballast bags. In the X-20 it only takes 4 minutes and 10 seconds to fill/empty the ballast tanks (using its stock 6 pumps) and you don't need any additional ballast in the boat! Gen2 works great and it is so nice not having to list the boat to the side (which my wife hated). Lots to like with these boats, except the $$$$...

I agree but on the other hand as long as you can keep a decent amount in the bank for a rainy day/doomsday scenario (job loss, etc) then why not let some of the rest of it buy you happiness?

I have been running my X20 for a little over a month, not having to deal with ballast bags all over the place and a listed boat make it far better then my X2 was. The stock wave is better then my abilities need right now that's for sure! I have played with more ballast and the wave does get better but it's not worth it to me to bother with bags, pumps, and the wasted time for additional ballast, if I have 4 or 5 people in the boat it works great for me! Next week I will be on on holidays and have time on my hands to get the go pro out and take pics etc and provide some good feedback.

Great surf wake, from all accounts yes. But as others have stated, the price is astronomical. I put the Go Surf Assist on my X45, don't have to list the boat when surfing anymore, and we are now 20' behind the boat surfing. If you've got a boat that works for you, and want to improve your surf wake without breaking the bank, look into the Surf Assist. It's 4k on Wakemakers now, which is a heck of a lot less than buying new boat.

Yes, yes, yes, if you can swing the cost, yes. I am in love with my x20 and have spent a few sessions riding the x23. No bags, about 5 minutes to set up from empty and so much room and convenience. The x23 wakeboard wake is shaped like the x25 but larger and surf wake so long and powerful and much straighter than the x25. There is a reason these boats are already in such demand.
