    2016 Fitness Goals

As per my usual cycle.. gained back my 10lbs over the summer.. I hope to get out at least 1 to 2 more times this season.. beautiful weather today but winds are to high so I got thinking about my off season training regimen.

    for 2016

besides maintaining what I have built up in 2015.

    Increase forearm strength
Increase lower leg strength to help riding on balls of feet.
Get to Florida to get some winter sets in
Do some winter sets if possible - locally
Go south for memorial day to spend a few days in a course in the early season..

and total deny I am 56 in January

lose 10-12 pounds -- means less beer - or more cardio....lol...

Id like to consistently bench 315+ for reps, squat 350, and dead 400+.. Again..

Basically get back to where I was before I messed up my lower back.

I'm happy with my weight at 195, I wouldn't mind to put on a little more size and lean up some though.

Corbin thats really similar to what i was doing about 6 years ago, and I messed up my back packing things up to move to MO, I was almost 245 at the time. Would really love to get that back. Came to the conclusion that weighted pull-ups kept my spine decompressed, never had back trouble until I stopped doing them.

Ride over the winter more than I did last year (LoL)!
Not put back on any of the weight I lost.
Loose the additional/final 20 lbs before Jan 1.
Continue with strengthening of the core.
Continue with strengthening of the upper body (mainly arms)

Oh, did I forget to mention - Ride over the winter more than I did last year.

As far as the age thing goes, now that we are that age they say you start to move back to acting like a child. I'm embracing that concept to the fullest and rolling with it.

What did I do or what do I do?

What I did was jump in mid set of deadlifts with no warm up at 245 and did 3 sets of 12. I've not been right since. This was early this year. I'm not one to complain about pain, I could literally barely walk.

What I do now to prevent that from hopefully ever happening again is to stretch daily (cat, cow, and cobra yoga stretches) I train the crap out of my core via plank, sit ups, weighted sit ups, leg raises, back hyper extensions etc.

I pulled 315 for 3 the other day and felt really good. I could have probably done 6-8 if I really wanted to. I just want to work my way back up though.

Get back in my routine. Run 50 yard sprints with a 50 yard jog, 6 sets a night. Yoga and core conditioning with medicine ball. Since I moved to SLC I've become a slacker.

F3 is a national network of free, peer-led workouts for men. Our mission is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.

I workout with this group 3-4 times a week, usually mountain bike or run another day or 2.

Keep working out with my son age 14, hard to keep up with him as he is gaining muscle like crazy. We lift on Tuesday and Thursday, working out with him has kept me going.

get more flexible, work on Insanity 30 and P90X. try to get 8 pack abs at 51, like I managed to do at 41.
