  • Any good suggestions for MC steering wheels?

thinking of upgrading the look of my 08 X30. I have the 4 spoke "leather" wrapped wheel but thinking of a new wheel. Any thoughts? Doesn't have to be a MC wheel but then again, I've read that there's an issue with changing out the steering wheel - splined? hub? not sure what it all entails. I'd obviously prefer a plug and play setup. TIA!

If you guys find and buy one, I would be interested in buying your old one for the ProStar.

Gussi makes some very nice steering wheels that will look good on a MC. They used to be OEM on MC, but I don't know if that is the case anymore.

Thanks. I saw one I liked that was on ebay but it was already sold and I can't find it again.

Mines a 2006 - I decided to go with the newer MC wheel -

Somewhat frustratingly the diameter of the bolt patter is different on the new wheel - but rather than get a whole new hub, I just added one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steering-w...AAAOSw9N1VrfZq

There are apparently 2 main patterns - 70 & 74mm and annoyingly the 2 wheels are different - I can't remember which way around.

Not a cheap option though - $540 for the wheel & cover kit

That is the wheel I really want. So we just need the hub adapter, and nothing else to do with the spline issue, correct? price is a bit high but then again, it IS a Mastercraft...

Correct - it just has a slightly different PCD and that little adapter was all I needed.

I could have replaced the entire hub for a new one, but as you say, that is a spline fixing & I didn't know where it would lead next, so I went with the cheap adapter & it does the job perfectly. The wheel is about ½" further from the dash, but you can't even tell.

It did meant that I couldn't use the bolts that came with the wheel as the adapter has a narrower thread, but works just fine.

                    Did you need new bolts?

I drilled out the counterbore in the adapter to accommodate the heads from the bolts on the old wheel - that mounted the adapter onto the hub.

I needed new bolts for the new wheel into the adapter - I think they were M5 or M6, but will depend on the adapter you buy.

The other option would be to drill & tap the adapter to take the bolts that come with the new wheel, but it was easier for me to source new bolts.
