How much headroom should you leave on your boat lift and stay safe? Can a 6,000lbs lift lift a loaded a boat thats 4700lbs dry? What about 5350? 5500?

I have always been doing things a little backwards or slow on the boat lift side. Shorestation 4k loft for mid 90s four winns.. OK not too bad... Than upgraded to Prostar 190.. Same lift... Decent... Boat was too small.. Upgraded to x 30..same boat lift... Then I bought a whole new dock setup and brand new 5000lb lift.. Works great... Unfortunately x30 was apparently too small now I have an x55 on the same new lift... Moral here is I had always had too big of boats for the lifts.. However I had no issues this whole time
