  • Who says boat lifts can't have runways?

$50 at hobby lobby, $10 at the hardware store, some extension chords, a remote from the christmas light bin in the attic, and a 30 minute install later we had remote control runway lights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8qmhJwykEE

The remote can be temperamental as you saw in the video, but I can't wait to use these pulling into the slip at night.

Waterproof or immersion proof? Big difference. No way would I put 110vt light in the water. What happens if someone steps on them and btraks the seal or tube?

Why not go with 12 vt and a gfi protected transformer?

Hope you put a GFCI on that. That just scares me.

Yikes. If you are set on doing that, go with a 12v system. Another option would be to mount them on the inside face of the slip where they stay above water. Those are not meant to be under water.

I'm glad everyone else's comments mirror my initial thoughts. I thought I was just being a baby... but yikes.

How much safer would be 12volt lights be? Is 12 volt in the water enough to be worried about?

I'm guessing these would be 12 or 24 volts. I put led under our bar counters and it seemed like they were all 12 or 24 dc. Would that be any different than the lights on your trailer?

This has bad written all over it. Those lights are NOT rated for underwater use. It's an accident waiting to happen.

OP read this, twice. Then go get that death trap outta the water. Please.

If you cannot dock your boat at night without a landing strip, then leave it at berth after the sun goes down. Looks like those docks have plenty of lighting, no?

120v equipment kills more people from electrical shock each year than any other voltage.

By using a 12v DC system, you would in theory alleviate the risk of shock inherent in your current AC setup.
