  • 2012 X-30 with 6.2L - THOUGHTS?????

Interested in people's feedback and history on the 2012 X-30 with the 6.2L.

May be looking at trading up from my 2002. However, it would be very difficult to part with this boat as it's been truly an amazing ride.

Boat I've seen over the web doesn't have surf tabs. It has 227 hours on it and they are asking $69.9K.

My first question is: Are the Gen 2 tabs retrofittable onto a 2012?

    Thanks for people's inputs.

Depends on if it has the touch screen. If it does, run. If it doesn't, gen 2 isn't retrofitted to 2012s because of software, so you'd have to look at gosurfassist. Also if it has the zft2 tower, run.

      It has the touchscreen.

I think it has the ZFT4 tower.

      Here's a picture.

I spent the past year trying to sell my 2012 x25 and finally did last week. It's the only time I have been happy to sell a boat. Plug and play manifold replaced 6, replaced 3 screen, 1 peer tower strut, multiple hours tracking down weird problems. I sold the boat a few thousand cheaper to get out of it I couldn't take the stress of it any longer. Sorry so drab but hold out for something with gen 2 and a Murphy screen or get a 10 or 11 and add go surf assist. The 12 was a single year screen. Medallion never returned a phone call.

At the 70k mark you can find allot of other MC out there that are newer. Allot
Of 11 out there for less and put GSA on there. I have had it on the 25 and it was awesome and now my 45 and even more awesome. The x30 im told is one of the best boats to put it on.

I was thinking GSA for my 08 but at $4k, couldn't handle the dough. in my mind I can put that towards a new boat, which is poor thinking since whatever I can get for my boat, to get into a gen 1 or gen 2 is A LOT more than $4k plus my boat!

$62k is your final $$$ on that boat
Needs GSA and will be hard to sell.

              6.2 makes it desirable

Yes, 2012 has a strange history.
Although the problems were largely addressed , the stigma is still there..
It will likely be fine for you, but , take advantage of knowing that in your offer...someone else will do the same when you sell.

Great info. Although I've owned several MCs, I haven't purchased a new (different) one since Jan. 2005 when I bought my 2002 X-30 which has been a flawless boat. Not quite sure I want to go back into debt for a toy that I use only 4 months a year.

if you are the type to keep a boat for a long time, this could be a great deal...I sell mine too often to have anything that might be suspect in the eye of a buyer....
                      All boats "lose" money...LOL

david, the price of gsa was my thought also but I don't want to spend a lot of money buying a newer boat with gen 2 so when I compared adding it to my 07 x2 compared to buying a $80K used boat it was a no brainer. good investment if you really like to surf.

I would pass. 12 was a horrible year.

I owned a 2012 X45. My screen worked just fine. Yes there is a kind of stigma with that year and it's touch screen, but I wouldn't totally rule it out. It may allow you to get a sweet boat for a great deal. That 2012 X30 hull will be a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over your 2002 X30 hull for everything you want to do. If it were me I would pay $10K more on a '13 just to avoid the 2012 touch screen mystique, but if you get the right deal it might make sense and would most likely work well for you.
