  • Hidden trash bag

So, of all the years I've spent boating, one of the things that has bugged me was were to put the trash. We've always carried a bag and put it in a compartment somewhere, which people seem to constantly need to access and generally someone has to move. I had some spare time the other day, so i decided to see if i could come up with a better solution. This is what i came up with and i thought it was pretty cool so i thought I'd share.*

    Fantastic idea.

Way better than tying one around a tower knob like I've been doing for some time now. I had thought about mounting a trash can in the starboard rear locker but worried it would get a ton of water in it with wet kids climbing all over.

Great idea!! Can you post more pics, and tell us a little more about how you are holding the bag up please.

That is very cool - I have spare ripstop nylon could make a cosmetic bag cover it.

                      Thanks everyone!

For the bag, I just fashioned 4 hooks out of flat aluminum stock and epoxied them in place in 4 corners.

I got the idea from another boat company that had a rectangular trash door in the walkthrough area, but I couldn't bring myself to cut a big hole there. 95% of our trash fits in a cup holder, so this was the next best thing.

For the cup holder, I just took some 1" starboard and cut a hole for the cup holder. Then screwed a spring loaded flat hinge to the starboard with some scrap Stainless Steel for the door. Epoxied it to the panel, and cut the bottom of the cup holder to the right depth.
It was pretty easy, but I did have to do a lot of test fitting and trimming to get everything to fit right. There's not a lot of room to work under there - I actually wound up taking the panel out to work on it.

Also, while it was out, I cut another hole and added another cup holder, so I didn't even loose one.

Hacksaw or dremel to cut the stainless cup holder and scrap door?

Thanks again for the great idea and tips, especially removing the panel to get fitment done correctly.
