  • 2000 PS 205 upholstery removal

Can anybody tell me what kind of fasteners and the locations for the back rests in the bow of a 2000 PS 205?

I've circled the challenging parts in blue.

    Thanks

They are threaded studs that you have to access from under the dash (driver's side) and under the port side storage in front of the observers seat.

Total PITA... but you'll get them out. Putting them back in can be a bit a challenge to get the nuts started!

I believe you also have to take tge speaker out to get to middle one.

The center bow just has 3 plastic studs on the bottom edge you just pull out and then slide the cushion up. I can't remember off the top of my head if you need to remove that in order to get to that last screw in the wrap around or of you can reach that through the speaker hole

I can feel one stud from the speaker hole towards the back but nothing towards the front of the boat.

On another note, the locking nuts grip tighter than the insert in the panel after 17 years so when I put the rear panels back last year after adding some speakers they just spun. I had to turn the nuts on as far as I wanted them and then insert the stud like a bolt. Several have fallen out after a couple months already. Is there a way to secure these better? On the sides I can just screw them back in but I don't want to have to climb under the helm very often to replace studs that have fallen out.

Do you mean that the stud is unscrewing from the t-nut? If so use a little blue Loctite on the threads that screw into the t-nut.

Locktite or white teflon tape works well

I find it easier to put all the studs on the actual cushion first. Then you can get them anchored in better. If you gonthe locktite route this is also beneficial as you can locktite the studs to the cushions over nite. If you have a stud that just spins.......... You can pop few staples off. get to it, and add a different style anchor.
