  • Extra shade options

Looking for some extra shade when floating (not when underway) and haven't seen many options. Saw this photo online that looks like a possibility, but not in love with it.

Anybody have a product they've found that works well?

On really hot days I would put the bow into the sun and hang towels off the bimini. Keeping the windshield and dash from heating up really made a difference. Yet to see an add on bimini that I would want to add to my boat.

^You can also get those inexpensive C clips to keep towels hung off the bimini.

Larry used a patio umbrella and inserted it into the ski pylon hole with a PVC sleeve for extended trips to Havasu or Powell in the desert sun. It's somewhere in his X46 Surf Edition thread.

I bought an AnchorShade umbrella for the really hot days. It goes up quick and stores easily. I only use it while at anchor.

          Check out Sunbrella fabric.

I just purchased a 8' Triangular shaped piece with grommets at the corners. My plan is to attach the narrow point to the bow eye using a adjustable strap and the other two points to the front of the bimini.

Currently I am still looking for a solution for the Bimini mounts without modifying the Bimini fabric. Been looking at velro, Tent clips, C-clamps.

We got a thing like this:

Doesn't cover a huge area but a person can curl up and read etc..

Is this the ugly Bimini thread?

Pic of that in action? It seem like a no factory bimini or tower for one to work?

This almost is a candidate for the "Ugly Tower" post.

                          Thats my Umbrella thing...
on the X30...you will use the SKI pole insert
Get a pc of Schedule 40 PVC from Home Depot that a little LARGER than Ski Pole HOLE
CUT PVC to about 12-14" long
Using a TABLE saw or what ever you can get....RIP a slot the LONG way down the PVC pc.
Test in the SKI pole Hole for fitment.
The PVC will compress and hold the STANDARD Umbrella Pole tight enough to hang out.
You will Also need to chop the umbrella Pole down to desired Height.. Wood Pole Umbrella worked best

I am with you on wanting more shade. If I ever have a new Bimini made, it will go from the base of the windshield and cover the back seat. It will not look like a sports car but will feel a lot better. It will still look nicer than some of the ugly towers and ugly gel schemes out there.
