Mark my words....... that ASA, "Klipsch" branded head unit, is going to bring a whole new level of headaches to the audio system in these 18+ MCs......

One look at that thing and I realized....... that is literally a Jensen/Polk head unit with "klipsch" printed on it.

Funny that for 2018 Nautique is finally done with their contract with ASA, and can move on to better head unit that actually interfaces well with a touchscreen, and doesn't have constant, unfixable, noise issues..... and then MC jumps in with them..... this isn't going to end well.

I can't believe MC is dropping fusion, and bringing in the absolute crappiest marine head unit of anything used in a premium boat theses days. Then again, it does cost about 1/3 as much as a fusion HU, so I guess I see why. The number crunchers won......

I noticed how they looked terrible. I really like my Fusion headunit. They have worked very well and the transom remote is a million times better.

The only positive to this might be the remove of a screen on the transom remote which I have changed many times.

            No FUSION head unit?
I noticed that too on the standard Dash models. Fusion 700 was definitely one of the nicer interfaces out the. Polk unit in the Nautique is just ok.
I wonder what Nautique will use now?

Hi All: First time posting, I've been lurking for a bit and am in the process of figuring out what exactly I want in a boat. I have decided that I will go with MC because of all the issues I've heard with Malibu and their touchscreen (All digital/computer) set ups. Not to mention the quality of MC was what actually set my standard. But to see what rolled out in yesterdays news with the new dash and screens I'm a bit, perplexed perhaps? Irritated?

I've heard nothing but complaints about the fact that Malibu went fully computerized it leaves nothing left if your computer or chip goes down. Now MC is following suit?

OK, morning rant over... Hi from Austin, TX!

I express your same concerns. I just replaced the screen in my 2015 X23 because of some issues.

I don't like having everything tied into the screen with zero manual switches.

I think the Dash and gauges will continue to be fine. Most of MC dashs have been digital for 5years now.
Even the analog looking Gauges are digitally fed. And the Hard switches feed a digital relay in the boat systems.

Unlike Malibu - you are not forced into the larger screen - it's a $10k option (once you include the stereo upgrade)

                        ^ This

They are switching to the JL MediaMaster. They are also offering a retrofit kit to install the new head unit in 2016-2017 boats that have had constant issues with the ASA units.

I changed out my head unit as soon as my '17 G showed up, and added a helm remote. It will be cool to regain touchscreen control when I get the new software...... honestly though, I haven't missed it at all, and would actually rather just use a wired helm remote, instead of constantly changing menus on the touchscreen just to operate the stereo.

It is good to see that MC is still including a helm remote (based on photos), instead of only having touchscreen control....

I'm going to upgrade to a newer boat when the stars line up and the best one appears. I had steered away from Malibu, as petty as it may sound, because I didn't care for the look of their all-screen dash. 30 years of flying airplanes pulls me to the "retro" look of toggles and round dial gauges. Even if it is a digital feed to a needle and not analog, the screens fail at a greater rate than needles. And lake time is to get away from "screen time." My two cents. The standard package may be the best fit for us, if we don't find a great used X-30 set-up first. To MC's credit, they are offering a choice, and I respect that

I totally agree with this and also very glad that it's an "option". I fell in love with the way the dash and gauges looked on the XT20 I looked at here in Austin. I've grown up on and around boats my entire life, and this will be my very first boat. I want to make sure that it's the best experience and not something that I regret going into for as much as I love the water. Being in the tech industry I welcome any sort of break I can get away from screens.

Good points about the screens being an option.
Choice of analog or digital look is a good thing
