Wondering if anyone has taken a fully wrapped vinyl sun deck and converted it to a walkthrough with seadek or something similar. my buddy has dogs and doesn't like them walking over vinyl to get into the boat...

Just an FYI, but our sundeck on the X23 with the non-padded middle step-thru has been a giant mystery to me. Every time we bring guests on the boat, they have a strong tendency to step on the pad part of the sundeck and not on the seadek where they're supposed to. Has me baffled.... Would hate to go through a conversion just to see dogs and people still stepping on the vinyl.

I'm a lifetime boater, so it is no mystery to me where to step. I step on the d#@% seadek and not on the seats!!!!

Rant over. Sorry for hijacking. Carry on....

I know this thread is going sideways, but it kills me when I ask folks to take off their shoes to keep the seats and boat clean but they don't take them off till they have stepped in and are sitting down!?!

Been posted before, but still relevant.

And I'll expand on this. No watches, bracelets, anklets, rings, or other jewelry. Small, non dangling earrings are acceptable, but that's it.

I'm getting ready to do this. Just waiting on a guy to fab the frame for me. Probably going to end up a winter project now. Here is what the pad looks like.

do you think a foam insert of some sort is required to reduce engine noise?

I've noticed an easy fix if you have room to maneuver... swing the swim platform around so they have to use it. no one wants wet shoes so they will take them off.

I'm using an HDPE sheet to adhere the pad to. I'm having an aluminum tube frame built to support it. On the backside of the HDPE I'm planning to use something like this.

GENIUS! Pure genius. I guess no more loading in the parking lot before we launch. "Lake Boarding Only!"

Agree and second this! It's been my go-to for the last few months. Especially entertaining getting all the stares from the weekenders holding up all the dock space at the launch.

When we're using a private dock on our local lake I just make guests leave shoes sitting on the dock. I don't invite guests that "don't get it" to the bigger lakes.

But to answer the op question I have seen people add the seadek to make an older boat a walk thru.
