  • Fugly 2007 X2 or older X30

So here is my dilemma, I've come across a smokin' deal on a 2007 X2 with 600 hours, seller is asking $25,000 for the boat. Here is the catch. The boat has all brand new interior that is SOLID BLACK and NEON GREEN . It looks horrible. The boat is wrapped in a matching neon green/black wrap that is equally as bad. I'm worried the black will burn my young kids and I'll have to use towels all over the boat.

I've also found a 2003 x-30 locally that is going for 26K and is mint, new OEM interior and excellent exterior.

I can't decide which is the better deal. The '07 X2 is a great price, but I'm going to have to remove the wrap and go back with a more subtle one or polish the underlying gel (Navy Blue) and most likely redo the interior because you know, black is hot ! I've received quotes for 5-6K for the interior and 2K-$2500 to redo the wrap

What do you guys think? The X2 fixed up with a new interior would be pushing 30K. Is it worth it for the headache? Or should I just go with the beautiful X30 that is lake ready for 26K?

Just from your post it sounds like you're leaning toward the X30. I guess it really depends on what you want to use it for. Will the X2 do the equivalent of $4k plus the time/effort more stuff for you? Do you want to go out with a larger group on occasion?

Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly runs all the way to the bone.

Looking to take out my family of 5, kids are 8,6 and 3. I want to introduce them to everything and surf/ski myself.

True, true. I think there may be a select few that like the scheme but not many. It would still do all the things on the water I'd like to do just not in style That, and the kids getting burned on the vinyl if I didn't replace it.

Wow.. that boat is hideous. I like the x2 and have spent a lot of time on a friends. Winter is coming up and would be the best time to complete the interior/exterior project. But yea, ditch the wrap and have a new OEM interior and I am sure it will turn out beautiful. Don't worry about the gel, it will come out looking clean with the right products and some attention to detail.

One other thing to factor in is the trailer. If you plan to trailer it everywhere, a tandem is a lot better than the single that x2 is on. Just food for thought..

My son would just love that green and black boat. I actually think it is very nice. Again, from up north here we don't get that hot so the seats wouldn't be a big deal. For the price...i would run her just like that. I paid alot more...i mean lots more for a 2009 X2 with a tandem trailer. Unfortunately we get the opportunity to pay more money for boats in Canada. Sigh.

I agree, I am worried about what the gel might look like underneath. I"m wondering if it would be worth it to just try it as is and replace the interior when the vinyl wrap starts falling off. It's just painful to look at.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Another strategy would be to just use as is like you said and maybe in a few years sell it and not lose out to much. The problem is finding a buyer....

No matter the looks, as long as the gel underneath isn't trashed, 23k is a steal.

No pics of the x-30 sorry. Just imagine a perfect one boat with 500 hours. Brand new vinyl looks just like factory.
