  • Draft/Depth Question

If the X23 has a draft of 28", does that draft change with added ballast/weight? If so, how much? Is there an equation with added weight and draft?

Some of the local rivers have shallow depths and want to make sure it's all good.

    2015 X23

I’d load it down and measure what you have left
    1981 MasterCraft
    19' Skier 351W PowerSlot
Long gone is the Trans AM waiting for another

yes draft is usually calculated from the lowest point of the boat at stock weight. so whatever you add will change that.

There are equations but you'd have to have more numbers about the hull displacement.

Easiest just to ballast heavier than you'd use it in application and find a maximum draft.

you can add 3" of additional draft for every 1000#

You shouldn't have much to worry about if the boat is on plane, but don't go from WOT to idle instantly because the sudden drop in speed will make the boat settling much deeper than it is at rest.

Ahhh...wouldnt it be deeper draft @ surf speed all loaded with ballast and pushing a wave?

With ballast is deeper than empty, but it's on plane, so the hull is riding higher with the weight distribution doing its thing as to how level the hull is. I would really want to know the river and the actual water level before doing this.

i thought the 28'' of draft on the x23 was with full ballast.

Guessing ours drops a solid 6" past stock draft when the ballast is full based on how deep the swimdeck goes underwater. More with a lot of people on board. X23 is a tank.
