  • 2002 X-30 New Interior Thread (Pics)

Finally got some pictures of the start of the project. Although the upholster says it has to look ugly before it can look nice, I think this is a great start.

Enjoy and ask as many questions as you have. I have been planning this update for 6 months and have gone thru about 10 different renderings. Finally arrived at keeping it as stock as possible and adding the diamond shapes to the seat backs and adding in some red into the interior to match the Fire Red Flake color of the boat.

While you're there; put you some seat heating pads (carbon fiber) in there (wherever you may like). Driver and passenger, back and seat for each. Cheap and easy to wire in. No better time.

    Your driver will luVs you.

    $0.02

Done - I had the drivers seat re-upholstered a few years ago and added seat heaters to it. When my buddies asked why aren't the other seats heated and only the drivers seat was, my response was "I only sit in the drivers seat".

Truthfully, I did think about doing more seat heats but I rarely use the one in the drivers seat so I decided not to.

Those last 2 pictures show the drink holders being covered up. Since my boat is a 2002, the rear seat had the drink holders holes in the backing material. My boat was actually reupholstered in 2003 with the "new" 2003 material. That is when the rear seat cup holders were removed because the material kept splitting at those cup holders. However, when the factory installed the 2003 interior (in 2003), they never covered up the holes. When people step on those areas, their foot tends to go into the holes. I wanted to stop that from happening.

More pics as they come available.

The Badge/Crest will go on the bow cushion, the back of the observer's seat and the back of the driver's seat. The MasterCraft logo goes on the back of the rear bench seat where it traditionally has always been. These are pictures of the actual embroidery.

I chose a shop in Everett, WA called Hoglunds. They did the convertible top and interior in my 1969 Barracuda.

The only picture from the week. I'm trying to get more.

The sides of the seat will have the 2 OEM stripes in the gray carbon fiber and deep red to match the fire red flake gel coat of the boat.

Thanks - its a labor of love. A lot of fun to drive. It was once owned by Marissa Tomei, the actress from the movie My Cousin Vinny.
