Acme 3289 prop swap

We installed the 3289 on our 2021 XStar and went out and surfed. Here is what we experienced:

We carry 1k in lead, 900lbs midship, 100lbs in the nose.
All tanks full, including fuel and three adults onboard.
Steep tab settings and 11.3 mph.

We ran for 3.2 hours, all surf.
Burned 22.9 gallons of fuel.
RPMs were 3300-3350 depending on travel direction
7.15 gph

Stock prop, same setup and conditions were 3600-3650 burning 9.10 gph.

About to order another new prop for the new boat that will be coming in july. Figured I would check back in on this thread and see what everyones thoughts were. Seems the 3289 is still the prop for me and my use.

I am still up in the air on if I will do the 6.2 again, or if i might opt for the 7.4 just for something different this year. If 7.4, I will probaly go 3289 for sure. If 6.2, I might try the OJ 18x17. If I do, i'll let you all know what I find and post it in this thread. I have a dicom now, so I can probably tell you exactly what the fuel burn difference is.... (If i find time to hook the computer up before and after.)

By my count there are about 4 different prop recommendations throughout this thread.

I have only seen real-world data/experience form one - which is the Acme 3289 18x17.5, in which there was reported a reduction of several hundred RPM's, reduction of ~2GPH while surfing, but decreased whole shot- which is deemed acceptable unless maybe you are at high elevation.

still looking for real world feedback on the:

OJ 18x15.5 - Variable pitch prop that might lower surf RPM and gain whole shot (magic prop)

OJ 799-MF - 18x17 - less aggressive than stock prop, but not as drastic of a change as the Acme 3289, so might be a good middle ground for those who run at elevation or heavy wakeboard.

Acme 3319 - 18x16 (same specs as stock prop) but might lower surf RPM's because of new shape.

3 adults in boat
100% full ballast
600 lbs of lead- 300 each side under tower arms
Acme 3319 prop
12.2 mph with 60% tab
3500-3550 rpm

Will check and update tomorrow with slower speeds, but super please. Ran around on the lake at 28.5 mph at 4200 rpm. Will swap to the OJ 899 at some point in the next few weeks and see if what differences that makes.

This was all at table Rock lake.

Same yesterday. Dropped down to 11.2-11.5 for some foiling sessions and was running about 3250-3350. Hope this helps a touch. Very pleased.

Plenty of power also. Full ballast and up to wake speed at 22.5 mph zero issues.

Gained a few MPH at cruising speed

Tip: Eric at OJ sent me a "shouldered" Prop Nut, think basically a washer built into the nut, hope this helps with the prop getting loose.

My 2019 X24 with 6.2L GDI came with an OJ 856-MF 17.5X16.5, 0.12 cup.

I picked up an Acme 3493 18x15.5, 0.09 cup and ran it this weekend. I did not do a full test in all scenarios, but it is a rocket out of the hole. I did hit the rev limiter and top speed was 35.4 at 5650 rpms. I cannot remember the exact surf RPM, but I think it was ~ 3500 with full ballast and 14 on the boat.

While I love the performance of the 3493, I just placed an order for the Acme 3289 18x17.5 0.105 and should have it next week. I will do some more testing and report all of my findings on all three props (actually never ran the factory OJ).

Got it on this past weekend and only had a few hours on the boat. Unfortunately it was just a couple of us, and we did not get to surf.

But, here are my initial thoughts and data:

- Still came out of the hole strong with single tab autolaunch, but I did not have people or weight
- 4K cruise speed was 30mph vs 25 for the 3493
- WOT at 5650 was 41 vs 35 for the 3493

My initial conclusion is that it is a much more versatile prop than the 3493, but I really need to get my normal crew of 10-14 and see how it surfs. More to come.

Oh, and I may order the 3319 18X16 0.12 cup. It may be the perfect balance for the x24 with 6.2.
