At cruise speed the GEN 2 Surf tabs are like Water Scoops.
I would like to know if the Actuators are engineered for that speed and Purpose. ?
That's what Im thinking, using the tabs at higher speed would rip them off IMO. Look at the fins on the bottom of the GEN2 tab.

If they still have the fins on the bottom of the GEN2 X23 tabs, I'm not sure how you can use these while underway.

I do use all three tabs for auto launch, but they retract at 16 mph.

      From Mastercraft's website:
"Surf tabs can also be used as trim tabs to help level the boat that has an unbalanced load on port or starboard or when a strong wind is present...

On the X2, X10, X30, X46, and XSTAR models, GEN2 WSDs are limited to seventy- five percent (75%) maximum extension when the boat speed exceeds twenty miles per hour (20 mph) or thirty-two kilometers per hour (32 km/h).

On the X20 and X23 models, GEN2 WSDs are limited to seventy- five percent (75%) maximum extension when the boat speed exceeds twenty five miles per hour (25 mph) or forty kilometers per hour (40 km/h)."

There are bigger and heavier boats out there running larger tabs using the same actuators that MC uses for the sole purpose of leveling the boat at cruising speeds.

I don't disagree, however, most trim tabs have a flat running surface, GEN2 tabs aren't a flat surface.

I can't see myself putting the port tab down with those fins on the bottom. That just doesn't seem like a very smart move IMO. I guess I could use the starboard tab for balancing, but if I used the port tab it would make the boat pull hard to one side with those fins on the bottom.

Look at the fins with the tab 20% down and tell me if you still feel that way. Its hard to picture but the tab is at an angle and goes down on that axis. They would not be in the water at a huge crazy angle.

I have looked at it personally when we first got the boat as I thought we could use these to level the boat, but the fins on the bottom of the tabs are about 1 1/2" tall. The 2015 tabs don't retract as much as the 2017-2018 models.

Any movement on the tab, the fins will be in the water first regardless of the angle, and when the port tab is in the water, you have to counter steer a lot and its really not safe. The whole purpose of the fins on the bottom of the port GEN2 is to help divert water for the delayed convergence.

If both of the tabs were flat on the bottom I would say this would work, but after 4 years and 300 hrs, I feel confident saying these tabs aren't meant to be used for leveling the boat.

These topics are on point for the replacement to the X23, or for its big brothers.

Neither of our crossovers have porpoising, both require crew adjustments to dial but that is perfectly acceptable and effective.

IMO, the X22, X24, and XStar at well closer to $200k+ than $100K, should have out of the box stock cruising, wake and surf nailed down period. In my time on the XStar that is indeed the case.

MCOCD interested in knowing how MC did so relative to the X23. I could care less that Aric still uses the wrong oil spec.

From Factory today- yes , GEN2 Tabs can be used to level ride at Cruising speeds.
                          I was mistaken.

This seems to Jive with triple tab auto launch.
