  • XT20 Reviews

The wife and I are considering moving out of our 2007 X2 and into a newer boat. The XT20 has our eye and is the right size for us.

Anyone have much experience in, on or behind one yet? I would really love to hear what your thoughts are on the slalom wake with or without the center tab.

Any comments in general on this boat will be much appreciated.

    Thanks
What are you gonna do with a pontoon boat, re-take Omaha Beach?

We bought an xt22 which is similar to the xt20. The salom wake blew our minds. While it is not a prostar it is the best crossover we have ever owned. Significantly better than the x2. Yet it still has a wakeboard wake that is better than our x25 had. Surf wake is also more than sufficient! Prior boats I have owned include several x2s, an x25, moomba Mobius lsv and Mobius ls (direct drive). Better at everything than any of my prior boats.

      Love this thread …….

I think the X-2 is one of the best all around boats MC has made … so if ProRMK is saying the XT series breaks that mark ….. then wow!

Can't wait to surf it! Ski it! and more !
Ski in snow, ski in water, and always have fun!

I did your exact switch in June. A 2008 X2 that I loved to a 2018 XT20 (currently have 40 hours on it). I wish I was blown away with the huge difference between the two, but I am not. Don't get me wrong, I like the XT20, but there are things I miss about the X2. To me it was like going from a 2008 Chevy Tahoe to a 2018 Chevy Tahoe. Same car just nicer, plus it has a warranty. My difference in price was about 55,000 between what I sold the X2 for and bought the XT20. Maybe I feel like I should be more in love that you forget about the 55k difference.

        Pro's of my X2:

-MCX 350 HP motor (I live at high elevation and that motor, prop combo was perfect)
-Slalom ski wake with center tab at 80% was flatter than the XT20
-More storage - The XT20 hard tanks are bigger and eliminate some space
-Position of the tower. The XT20 ZFT4 tower sits even with the back rest of the seats. It's a head banger for nearly everyone that gets in. I'm always saying watch your head in the XT20.
-tower mirror was out of the way on the X2, on the XT20 it always seems to be blocking my vision forward.
        - Stereo system I liked better in the X2 - zone control to tower speakers

With that said I do like the XT20, but I should have done 2 things differently. I would have done the 5500 motor and the dual touch screens. Again that all comes with another 18-20k. I wish I could save profiles and I hate that the advanced audio doesn't have zone controls like the dual screen.

        Pros of the XT20:
        -5 year warranty
-interior is so comfortable and plush
-ZFT4 tower besides being a head banger is so easy to lower (I have to lower it to get in the garage)
        - I love the over the tower cover
-Easy surf wave with Gen 2 and the ability to switch sides at the touch of a button
        - Bigger gas tank
        - Walk through
        -BTS windshield

All in all it's like getting a new phone. Sure it's similar to your old phone, but it's nicer. It takes a while to figure out the new features and make it custom to how you like it. The 2018 XT20 is nicer, but is it 55,000 plus nicer? I'm still waiting for that moment that I say yes.

Not to thread jack but what speed and length are you skiing at? Only tried skiing ours once and it was right after a pull behind a response. You're making me want to try again!

salom at 28 or 29... need to play with the center tab to find a sweet spot. barefoot at 38.... extremely impressive. Maybe the xt22 is better than the xt20 due to it being a larger boat with minimal additional weight(better displacement ratio???)

One also needs to remove the price differential from the equation. Having a boat... even a cheap boat will be more fun than no boat. The $60k+ price difference doesn't create $60k more fun... it just makes it more better . I am at a point that I don't try to rationalize irrational purchases... just rolling with it and loving every minute!

I have nothing I can add here except to boost this back to the top for more feedback and to say I look forward to skiing and surfing whatever you end up with!

I had an XT20 for one summer and enjoyed the boat very much. I felt that the 5000 engine was more than adequate for all water sports but it definitely has more exhaust fumes compared to the direct injection engines.

The surf wave is indeed adequate as others have mentioned but don’t ever see the surf wave on the bigger boats or you will want that. Wakeboard wake was surprisingly good even without much ballast.

Slalom wake was disappointing for me. I thought maybe I could get it dialed in better but it never really happened. At speeds of 27-30 and center tab 25-60% there is still a pretty good hump in the middle of the wake. It will certainly get your attention when crossing the wake. If you can ski at 32-34 then it looks better but that’s too fast for me. Even the X23 wake looks good at 32.

I also would not buy a boat without the ability to store custom profiles.

Why are you looking at another boat, anything you are looking to approve upon?

Thanks for the feedback. From what the dealer said, 30mph is when the slalom wake really improves.

We are at a point where we would want to invest money to refresh our current boat. Considering putting that money towards a new boat with Gen2 and some of the other new features.

Spend 4K on GSA and pocket the 50k. The X2 is one of the best all around hulls MC has ever made I wouldn’t want the payment. But to each his own

Funny how people are always so agains other people upgrading. Old boats don’t have warranty, they have wear and tear, etc.
