  • 2015 Mastercraft X25

Just put a deposit down on a 2015 MC x25 with just over 200 hours pending a test drive in the spring. (Nelson BC Canada) We are new to the wake boats having owned a pontoon prior. Two kids ages 10 and 7. The whole family wants to get into the surfing. Can anyone tell me how the surf wave is on it? Gen 2 on the boat. I have heard both good and bad. I am hoping that for a newbie to the sport I won't be able to tell the difference and will love everything about it. Thanks in advance for your response.

My advice would be to get an X10, or an X30, instead. With you being new to surfing, those two models (along with the XT21, XT22, and XT23) are the easiest boats in the world to set up for an awesome surf wave.

The X25 is a great boat, but not as easy to dial in a surf wave. That boat is more about an exceptional wakeboard wake.

Ryan Wood did a Post years back on dialling in his surf wave on his X25. There is a lot of use full information there. It helped us dial in our 2010 X25.

X25 is a very nice rig. With a little work you will get it dialed in for a surf wave that will please your family and friends.
Lots of room and the hull offers a great ride.
Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.

Port wave is easy to dial, starboard is not.

You'll be 100% fine with the X25. I agree with Aric's comment above. X25 throws an awesome surf wave with some tweaked weight and surf settings. There's been a LOT of discussion in past threads on settings. Take a look. You'll LOVE the boat and you will not be disappointed.

Do you remember what you were running in your 2014? Although I'm sure the previous owners would have their old settings still in the computer......

Varied by the weight involved. What made the biggest difference, hands down was 1200 extra lbs of ballast in the boat in addition to the stock ballast. It's a finicky process, but once you get it dialed, it's golden for anything within a couple hundy lbs of that weight. Half the fun is figuring it all out. Don't be afraid of it.

No, I don't remember. Listed it several times shortly after I joined teamtalk though, which was back in 14 or 15. A lot of folks have shared their settings over time. Do some searching and you'll find the things you are looking for in past threads.

With more weight I thought it did well. I replaced the stock bags in the rear corners with 600 lb from wakemakers. Then I put 750lbs in the port locker. That's almost 1200 pounds over stock right there. I also experimented with additional bags on the floor but I usually ran with a good size crew and didn't need the bags on the floor.

Oddly enough I thought a Mission Delta device ran exceptionally well on mine. Cleaned the wave up notably. Both sides.

I love my 2015 X25 because my son only wakeboards, however my daughter and friends mostly surf. We have the wake dialed in so it works well keeping in mind all of the surfers are just doing it for fun. If you buying a X25 it’s becauce of the wakeboard wake.
