Anyone replace their carpet with EVA in compartments?

I’m thinking of replacing my carpet in the floor of my compartments with EVA marine flooring that matches my Gatorstep I already have in the floor. Bought some cheap eBay stuff that matches my Gatorstep and it actually looks and feels really good with 3M backing. Good enough for the compartments anyway. I was wanting to clean up these spaces and plus keep it dryer and cleaner. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if you had any pics and things you ran into while doing it. I’m doing this on a 05 Star.

Take a look at the Nautiques, all their compartments are SD. Great idea and also quiets the boat maybe even more than carpet.

For compartments you might just be able to buy inexpensive sale remnants in basic colors of grey or black, or perhaps to complement your boat if it is in stock. Check with both SD, SC wake, and others. Only suggest getting pre-applied 3m adhesive vs. spray or brush on adhesive.

I did partial in my X20

Just the part under my observer seat.
EVA is cheap not as good as gator or Seadek

I put some leftover strips on my trailer as non-skin, they bleached out in the sun in just a couple months.
Do not use this anywhere that will be exposed to the sun or foot traffic

I’m glad you said that. I thought about doing my trailer with this stuff. Have you noticed any problems with it in the compartments?

Not yet, but my expectations are low,
I just used it to cover up the bare fiberglass, my boat is a saltwater series in the large piece of decadence seagrass in my observer compartment was missing

Just ordered some of this to do a few spots on my top deck with the kiddo now wanting to jump in the water from there. Any ideas on what could be put on it to help protect?

Only time my boat sees the sun is when we are on the lake! It either stays covered or in a barn.

No, sorry. The lockers aren’t very photogenic. I went with black foam and used a stainless carpet transition strip to cover the seam where it switches to carpet at the front of the locker.

Those that used the cheaper amazon/ebay EVA foam did you have to use any extra adhesive or the backing was good enough?

Received mine a last week and hope to work on it a bit this weekend.

I am putting my on the top deck in small areas. Could not bring myself to pay $500+ just for those areas.
