  • Bike Rack Options while towing boat

Does anyone have options that they do for carrying bikes along with towing their boat?

    I found this:

But I don't think it will work.

The nose of my X-star comes to close to the back of my truck to be able to get a rack between the boat at my truck so I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas?

I would prefer not to do the roof option, but if I have to I will.

Unless you can confirm that the boat won’t take out some expensive bikes, especially when turning forward and back, then definitely go roof rack. Perhaps a single tray hitch rack will give some room but my guess is the long nose of the XStar will threaten your gear.

I’ve had good luck with both top of roof racks on SUV’s and above bed on a half ton. You could also stow your bikes in the boat but would pack them carefully not to do damage to boat skins.

I have the roof racks on mine and even with the lift it's easy to load the bikes on and off. I got the Thule trays mounted to my factory crossbars.

I like your solution, but it wont work for me since I have a topper. I think the roof rack is my only option.

I also have a topper and I get a simple fork mount and screw it into my bed.

I use the Thule bed bar. Works really well, relatively inexpensive, portable and easy to store.

I had a boat and trailer that the previous owner installed a 2" receiver on the prop guard of the trailer. He then used a hitch style bike rack off the back of the trailer. I think he had to remove the swim platform that he then stored in his truck or in the boat.

I made up this board with fork mounts years ago to put in the back of SUVs.

Clamping bike racks to each of the guide poles seems totally legit!

Another thing we used to do years ago with older boats is just throw the bikes in the boat.
