  • MC XT22 vs Supra SA ?????

I'm looking at upgrading to a slightly used XT22 in the next season or two.

Anyone have pictures of surf wave?
Will 600 lbs of lead be plenty running with a small crew?
Is the XT22 surf wave that much better than the NXT22?
Also I will be looking at the Supra SA (22'7"), talk me in or out of it.....

Main reason for upgrade would be for saved surfer settings and all the options on the screens. And ease of use for the wife that hates messing with the surf tab buttons on the NXT. I have a great dialed in wave on the NXT, especially on the surf left side.

SteveO made the switch not too long ago. I’m not sure if anyone else here has yet.

I'd be looking at the Supra SL, not the SA. Better surf wave and sub-floor ballast. The SA has piggybacks that suck up all the storage space.

The new 2020 SA is redesigned. It will have subfloor ballast and 4K or more in ballast weight. Should be out soon.

        SL is a great boat.

Supras are all moving to new gears, so the newer 450 and newer gears should be plenty.

Have you seen the depreciation on a Supra SA?

Nope, I'm definitely leaning towards MC for sure. But want to learn about other boats before I drop way over $100k.

Supra has come a long way but they still trail MC, Malibu, and CC. If it was my money I’m getting an XT22

I am beyond happy with the upgrade from the NXT to the XT22. I generally run a light crew and have 700 lbs of lead on board. The wave is longer, faster and taller. It has a ton of push and is very clean. While I don't surf port side, those that do and have ridden it have really enjoyed it. In addition to an awesome wave, the added creature comforts are great. I'd look at the 7" vs the 4.3 screen.

I've not spent anytime on a newer Supra, but If you are looking to make frequent upgrades, I'd put my money in a MC. The MC may run you a little more on the front end, but come next upgrade you would most likely loose less.

I don't agree with that. Maybe several years ago, but SC has upped their game. They are all holding pretty good resale now and all are consistent. There really isn't a boat out there that doesn't hold its resale value in line with what you pay for it new. I think you get more with some of the other brands for the price as well. I own a MC, and also a moomba so i am not brand blind. The supra may cost a bit less up front.

Don’t these sell in the 140s new?

I too upgraded from NXT to XT. It is worth it for a lot of reasons. One good on is comfort. The boat is also heavier and gas tank is bigger.
I also have the larger screens as SteveO mentioned. I think that is worth it as well.
Trying to adjust the tabs while underway on the NXT was a little confusing for other drivers. XT is much simpler for them.
I wakeboard mostly but the surf on the XT is what I would call "easy to make happen".
The SA is a great wakeboard boat in my opinion. Surf wave to me is not any better than the XT.
I too agree with hunter991. The Supra product sells really well right now. At least in TX.

New MSRP is probably around 150. I'd guess new ones actually sell for 115k-130k though.

I've been in all the boats and I'd say Supra is second to no one. This is a MC forum so I'll be respectful but the new generation Supras are top tier boats. Stick to the models with all ballast subfloor; SE 2019+, SL 2018+, and the SA in 2020.

I consigned a 2016 SE 550 Roush edition for a customer. I can confirm the customer lost over 60k in one year ($2k per hour of use). He was an MC guy for years (X-2, X-30, X-Star, X-45) and he wanted to try a Supra. In his own words "Glad that experiment is over." Now he is back in a super nice XT-23 and loves it.
