I hate winters in the southeast! I remember one December it was close to the 80s then the next week back freezing.

My boat is garaged, and I was thinking the same thing. Its better to be safe than ordering a new motor.

Christmas break 2015 Lake Martin in AL rose 7 feet in two days to nearly full pool and it got in the high 70s or low 80s. Then got really cold in January. Must be the same year.

NEVER assume the garage won't go below freezing and that the heat will ALWAYS work.

You can drain everything- just make sure to get the water out of the oil cooler, water pumps and hoses, too. If it's a V-Drive, make sure to drain that, as well.

winterize. But honestly just draining the water out without filling up with antifreeze may be okay for you.

I keep in a heated garage and don't winterize, but Im in Alabama where we don't have many periods to worry about. I do it so I can drop the boat in on a upper 50's day and take a cruise during those winter months.

I think I will just not be lazy and fully winterize. Our winters can be pretty long. I won’t be getting it out for at least 6 months and that’s best case.

I'm in South Ga. I put a halogen work lamp by my motor maybe two weeks out of the year. It's nice staying where the ice is not very frequent.

Winterize of AF fill. The first owner of my boat found that out the hardway: ski trip, house lost power for 4 days in 15°-19° temps, boat was stored in garage, new LT1 from Skiers Choice in Tulsa installed in 1994.

Question, I ran my boat on trailer today to change the oil but the temperate gauge would only reach 100. I had the intake in a 5 gallon bucket with the hose keeping the level steady. Why does it not get up to 160 like everyone recommends?

Its really hard to get the engine fully warm on a hose. No load and too much water. If warm oil came out I'd say you did fine.

Chances are you don't have to winterize.

I'd prefer not to take the chance, but I think you've already been talked into that.
