  • New 2019 Xstar + questions

Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Just took delivery of a new 2019 Xstar to replace our 2014 x30. Pretty big upgrade for us and we can’t wait for summer to start using it. Has anyone made some changes to the weight or rider presets? Any lead to improve the wave right out of the box? Why does the boat come with an extra transducer in the glove box? Also, the boat cover does not fit correctly. Does anyone have any pictures of their boat cover on their xstar? The cover only covers half of the step on the transom of the boat. This can’t be correct. Any help or pictures would be appreciated.

Very nice!! As far as the cover goes. Make sure the ratchet straps are loose. And the anti pooling string is loose. Pull that loop under the aluminum and pull the sides under the bump where the gel lines meet. You have to tighten it very tight if trailering!!! It helps to have 2 people.

It should come down to this green line.

My boat came with the extra transducer but it’s not the whole thing. That’s just the leftover parts from install that isn’t needed on the way it’s mounted in the boat.

            New 2019 Xstar + questions

            Nice! I love it.

The cover isn’t the best setup, but the above post is correct- it goes under the grab handles below the transom step. You have to pull it pretty tight to get it around the handles- then I hold it there with my knee while i tighten the ratchet strap. It takes a few tries to get it down for sure, but no big deal.

Lead always helps. Unlike most other boats- I found that offsetting too much weight to the surf side kills the push a little. It’s been a few months- but I believe I ran 100 in the bow, 100 in the coffin, 100 in each rear locker. Just even weight works best in my experience. The boat is designed to run at a certain attitude and too much weight in the rear or front negatively effects it.

I think I was using 45 or 50% surf tab to get a steep wave on port side. Honestly just 5% makes a big difference with this boat - so some days 50% was a steep wave and some days 50% was the mellow wave- just depends on who’s in the boat and there really is only 5-10% difference in the surf tab when I was changing between steep and mellow.

Depending on your usage- you may want to look at changing out the prop. With the 6.2 mine pulls like no other boat I have been in. Doesn’t struggle at all with lead and 100% full ballast for wakeboarding. I don’t use full ballast for wakeboarding- so I changed to a less aggressive prop. Went from the 8-9gph range down to the 6-7gph, and the boat is quieter too.

That’s kind of interesting that they would include a part that’s not needed.

I thought that we loosened everything and tried to pull it down. But obviously not. I will try again when we get back to the boat, now that I know how it is supposed to fit. Thanks!

Yes can’t wait. This just makes the winter feel even longer. Haha.

If memory serves correctly it’s an acme 3289. Stock prop is an 18”x16 pitch and the new prop is 18”x17.5 pitch.

For the most part I don’t see any drawbacks to it- but I do have one friend who wakeboards with ballast on the “advanced” settings- which is ballast full but rears are at 75%. The boat struggles a little more with that- but still gets on plane just fine, nothing excessive or to be concerned about, just noticeable.

That is the prop that was talked about in the ‘18 xstar prop thread correct? Seems like a lot of people like it. What is your top speed with that prop? I think I will go with the OJ 18”x 17 as working with Eric is always great. Also seems a little less aggressive.
