Gotcha. Makes sense. I’ve laid awake in
Bed many nights thinking about what I would do if I designed my own boat, but then, maybe I’m a weirdo and nobody else would like it.

The x boats. I think you just need to make a custom tray or something to get the most use out of it, and it wouldn’t be huge like the G. Been thinking about that for my buddies x24, but haven’t worked on it yet. I did a custom cargo netting above the bags on my x30 so I could use the space to store life jackets and stuff.

Unfortunately, I was speaking of the Paragon with the rear locker storage AND rear lounge seats. That’s the biggest complaint I have with our boat. The trash, under a seat. The cooler, under a seat. All the storage, under a seat. So when people are on the boat, they have to move in order to grab anything. It’s this way on all of the X boats as well, except for the Star. I would gladly give up all the coffin storage area, that quite frankly is too deep to utilize effectively, to ballast so the rear bags can go away. I love MC, but IMO they are a step behind on interior design layout.

Appreciate it. Wish MC would figure out a way to design a boat where you didn’t have to decide. That’s one thing I prefer on Nautique, but they have their own issues I can’t stand. Of course the Nautique that has figured it out is also $230k+. Having everyone move around so you can access storage is a PITA. Also good to know on the towing. We have a Tundra to tow our XT23 that also has 800lbs in lead. Works out to be similar in weight, so I didn’t think much of it, even up to a Star.

The G is a good boat, but there is no replacement for displacement- I think the 2,850 pounds of ballast is just not enough to compete with the newer bigger surf boats that have 4k+ pounds of ballast. In my experience (which is admittedly limited) the wave on a G is nowhere near the level of the X series boats unless you start adding more ballast. In that case, you are losing storage and basically in the same situation as you are with the X series boats....other than having the cooler in the floor.

IMO it’s about size, storage, lounge seats, style. All these new gen Xboats (X22, XStar, X24) are sorted and cutting edge. The new hulls and ballast systems, along with upgrated Gen2 tabs and whatnot are super impressive.

All three boats are big. Even though they sit nicely and more streamlined in the water, the forehull bulges and sits these boats tall off the trailer and water. Our GMC Sierra 6.2L with heavy tow package and airbags is fully engaged. Airbags were set at 25-30 psi for our X30, but we bumped that to 40 psi for the X22. Feels like the electric over hydraulic brakes plus controller are also needed vs a nice to have.

So if you don’t need a larger boat and want the loungers, go with the X22, but note the storage is a bit less as the hard tank ballasts take up some depth in the port coffin storage. The benefit is the smaller hull (relatively) is more easily displaced with the 3,500 lbs of ballast, so the surf wave and wakeboard wake are killer. The XStar styling and storage are spectacular so if these are important to you, and the lounge seats are not, go this direction.
