Montara Inboard pontoon surf boat

Went on this thing yesterday. It’s huge! Still dialing in the wave for sure and I’m no expert how to do that. Had trim tabs and the guy said 400hp inboard engine.

Yea the guy was very new and didn’t really know how to set it up. I’m no expert but thought the length was very short. I asked if there were ballast tanks up front too, he said no. Only left and right ballast. He’s coming back again later today....

Maybe a new designer. If you want a surf wave with a pontoon interior. Put a pontoon too half interior on a surf boat haul. Will probably look tacky. But can’t be worse the. This rig

That’s exactly what this is. It’s an inboard aluminum hull.

I looked it up, Still seems like too much of a pontoon haul. The surf wave pictures on their site looked ok. I’ll pass lol

Not saying I’m jumping on one, but having two boats for most is less than ideal.


The quietness of an outboard and the ride of the tri toon is my draw to toons. This negates all of that. Like the idea still.

The sound of this engine definitely sounds like an inboard. Throaty sound. They are back at it today and the surf does look better. The interior definitely feels very nice and cushy.

More info, owned by Nautique. 6.2L and basically looks like an inboard.

Also has ZeroOff.

New guy today and said first guy was tabbing the wrong side when ballast was full.

I love the idea, but not a fan of the look of the surfboss. The Avalon makes a surf toon as well. These boats are ideal for a skier that wants to be able to use a toon and still surf on occasion.
