One year ago, I began a quest to own a ski/surf boat for the family. The goal was not to take any funds from the family budget. So, I began purchasing used boats that needed minor repair/cleaning and flipping them for profit. One year (to the month) and four boats later. I’m am now the proud owner of this 1998 22.5 VRS. Looking for general advice, comments/thoughts? Can it be a good surf boat with sacs, pumps, and tower. I have a few $k left from the flips? Worth it or not? Keep Flipping Up?

Pretty Clean Boat. A very good Ski Boat, Surf you will have to put a good bit of money into it, Tower, Ballast, Perfect Pass, Prop.
My advise is in this HOT Boat market keep flipping and wait for the market to settle down so prices drop. It's better to let someone else actually buy the upgrades.
Speaking first hand you can put a Lot of time and money to get it where you want if you do it yourself.

Above is probably right.... sell again while the market's in your favor, then I might consider holding for the soft season to buy what you really want... or heck, you must be good at it, maybe one more flip yet before it cools off.... hahaha.
Either way, enjoy the heck out of it in the meantime... thats a darn nice boat!
(And at some point, we gotta know some numbers.... if you want.... because, 4 boats in one year is a lot of work. And pretty darn sweet at the same time!)

Just parts:
Samson Bill was $7k, tower, speakers, custom Bimini , swing out racks, Mirror
JL Audio: MM100 Head Unit, remote, (2) JL HD Marine AMP’s, Wire, 3 AGM Batteries $4.5k
Ballast: $3k
That’s just the big stuff, but I think you get the point

That looks extremely clean.
If it were me I would post it up for sale at a price that makes sense to you, use it as is without dropping any more money in it and see if it sells.
Guess it really depends what you’re in it for and how much you can come out of pocket for an upgrade down the road. I’d at least try to sell this year and see what comes on the market during the winter.

.....and, for what its worth, there's nothing wrong with stopping where you're at either. Great boat that tons of families have had a ton of fun in over the years. And it looks to be in great shape! Just not a surf machine as is, and that sounded like a goal. Either way, the quest for a better boat NEVER ends, so just understand that. Though I think you already do. Hahahaha.

I think the MasterCraft bug has bitten. The quality and finish far surpass the others that I’ve flipped (granted not the same market). The Maristar was babied from day one but the kids want to surf.
Truly on the fence here. I could put another $5k in and still be in the black. Will it surf?
What are we looking at $$ for a decent MC surfer (in a normal market)? Model Suggestions? Maristar Value?
Thanks again!
