  • 2005 X10 Common Issues?

Hey y'all, my buddy is looking to buy his first boat and has found a 2005 X10 in decent shape with full service records. Are there any issues with this particular year/model that he should be looking at to be already addressed or addressed shortly after purchase?

The damper plate on all early to mid 2000 Vdrives is a weak link as they were never designed to deal with thousands of pounds of ballast being dragged at 11 mph.

Solid boats otherwise. Nice step up from a cramped ProStar.

Is your friend looking at the one at the AZ dealer by any chance?

When you replace the damper plate make sure you do the transmission seals too. 05x10 is a kickass boat. Buy it!

Friend has an 05 X10 - original owner. The only problems they've had are self inflicted. It's been a solid rig besides their oopsy-daisies.

Nah, somewhere in central TX, not sure if it was in Austin or not.

The center cushion in the rear likes to fly out of the boat while traveling on the highway. Don't ask me how I know.

Found that out the hard way on our old MariStar as well. I'll be sure to warn him so he doesn't join the club

My buddy lost a cushion trailering on his brand new x10 too back in 2004.

I think the cushion thing is common to any vDrive where the cushions are not held down or mechanically fastened somehow. Almost lost a cushion on my 07 X2 and was warned about the same issue on my newer 16 Sport Nautique. Between cushions and shredding Bimini covers (had this happen on 2 boats now) I pretty much remove or take down anything that can possibly flap in the wind or isn't bolted down.
