2020 XT 22 vs XT23

looking at a couple of leftovers from 2020. both same price and I am going to test drive tomorrow. My question is about performance. Will the surf waves be similar or is one better than another? I am a big guy and I surf goofy. I know the X boats are the best surf wave but what kind of surf wave should I expect out of these boats? Once again, geared towards a big guy surfing goofy. How much additional ballast should I expect to put in the boat to give me the best push? Thank you for the advice

You can't go wrong with either boat, from my experience it really comes down to preference on traditional vs. pickle fork. From what I've seen, the dealers tend to have more inventory on XT23's so you may be able to get a better deal, but the market is hot hot right now.

Also, off topic, didn't you buy Aric's old X15?

You can't go wrong with either and my guess is if weighted identical will both surf similar. Either, IMO will easily take another 700 lbs of lead to get optimal performance unless you routinely run a large (5+) crew. I'd feel good with either boat and I'd pick the one you like the best (colors, features, etc.)

In my opinion, I think the XT22 has an edge on wakeboard wake and the XT23 has the edge in surf wave. Plan to run at least 400 pounds of lead...I think about 600 is ideal and we usually have a crew of only 3 or 4.

I’ve said it before, but I think the XT23 is one of the most underrated surf boats in the lineup. I ride X boats a lot, but still never disappointed riding behind my friends XT23’s

Thank you. Looking forward to getting into both of them. I have always preffered the traditional bow and the XT23(old X30) has always been on my wish list. Yes Steve-o I bought Arics old X15 in 2013. has been a great boat almost 700 hours now. I put the go surf assist tabs on it with more ballast and it surfs really well. I am big and it has to be just right for me to surf goofy but the port side is really good.

Have been wanting to upgrade for awhile and am finally going to pull the trigger on one of these. So, I should be looking at 400-700 pounds additional ballast to make it pop.

It’s not just pickle fork vs pointed bow. The XT23 biases the living space behind the windshield whereas the XT22’s bow is a giant playpen with room for 4 adults.

This is hardly a scientific analysis but we had both models at Lake Powell last year. You can see them in action here:

You won't notice much of a difference, like Aric said it's essentially the same hull. Not sure which 2 you're looking at but colors/options and bow preference are gonna be the main deciding factors
