I have recently reacquired my 99 XStar and will be attempting to restore it. Its in pretty bad shape and I am using this thread to document and track my progress. I also want to use it as a repository for any modifications done to the boat and a place to leverage constructive input the other folks can share.

Ecm
I have been told that the ECM will not hold its config any longer nor is this part manufactured any longer. Currently looking for someone or some company that can refurb this ECM, locate one that has been refurbed, or locate someone that has this model ECM they would like to sell (as long as it is working).

Not cheap but looks better than the one you have. One in your picture looks like it was submerged.99 MariStar 230 Sport LTR 330

Update on the ECM Replacement. I reached out to Indmar direct to see if they could assist, based on a separate post I found on TT. Indmar responded quickly to my inquiry but were unable to assist in replacing or refurbing. They did point me in the direction of Mefiburn to see if they could assist. Next step is to reach out to Mefiburn. Email response included for my reference.
Unfortunately we no longer have this ECM. You can try & get one from www.mefiburn.com

Ecm - Mefi
The folks at Mefiburn were great. They said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the ECM and not sure why the folks that serviced it thought there was something wrong with it. They are sending it back with the software to run real time diagnostics once I get it hooked back up. They stated the most likely culprit would be a bad coil pack not sending an return RPM signal. They said if it is that, to avoid buying a new coil pack from Indmar and go to a junk yard and pull on of a '90s model Cadillac...they are the exact same.
If I have further problems and need some help from them they told me to give them a call and they would be happy to help. Great vendor if you ever have problems with any older ECMs our there.
More to come

Cleaned Up and Moved to Garage
The wife did a great job giving this thing a bath and knocking off about 80% of the grime. I think she is wanting this boat ready for 2022 season! All Seats and Backings must be replaced...All carpeting must be replaced...I found a concerning crack in the flooring underneath where we ripped up carpet. No time to worry about aesthetics, just need to get her running. Awaiting the return of my ECM from Mefiburn. Tower off and stored in the garage through the winter

Great looking project! I just finished up (as much as I plan to do) a 99' Maristar 210 with the Corvette LT1 that had been flooded. Lots of electrical work and testing, along with bringing old chalky gel coat back to life and re-finishing the swim deck. If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer. Tons fun to be had, so make sure you take your time and enjoy the process!
