    Looks like the 2022 Tundra has been revealed. Any initial thoughts from this towing community? I'm considering one

    I like the needed, more aggro redesign, and the hybrid looks solid. 437HP and 583 ft. lbs of torque is more than plenty for that X10 of yours, Oz. Red with red interior to match. Suggest adding rear air bags for towing performance, as on any rig except those with auto air suspension.

        I am disappointed that they didn't keep the V8. Too many yuppies who complained that it wasn't like the Ford or Chevy. Well, it definitely looks like the Chevy now.

        I just hope the Tundra will maintain its reliability reputation.

              Personally, I am a believer that there is no replacement for displacement. That being said, ford sure sells a lot of ecoboost. I am not really a fan of the ecoboost for my needs but have driven them and for city boys, they are good around town trucks. I think the new powertrain in the tundra will do everything that the old one did capabilities wise and will pull more toyota nuts into buying full size trucks that would not have considered it before.

                I have a 2019 with the 5.7 and the only thing I can say that I like is that it is definitely reliable. That being said everything else about the truck leaves so much to be desired and this refresh addresses a lot of that.

                Im a fan of this new powertrain, ford has proven it works with the ecoboost (after some initial bumps) and the new hybrid twin turbo makes more power than my old 2004 Silverado 2500HD gasser with a 6.0 L V8.

                All that said, Im moving from my tundra to a 3/4 ton diesel to pull the xstar. Too heavy with our lead for a 1/2 ton.

                  What?? I've owned a 2016 F150 with the 5.0 and a 2017 F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. The 3.5 could run circles around the 5.0 in literally every aspect, ESPECIALLY towing. It's impressive. (I guess you could call me a city boy, but I do tow ~70 miles every weekend)

                  As for the tundra, I like it!

                    Two things. Turbos are literally a replacement for displacement. Second, my lil powerboost hybrid gets a little more than just “around the town” truck treatment. Has more than enough power.


                    I think Toyota is making a proper step in the right direction here. I think it’s ugly but that’s subjective.

                      Same as I was thinking. We have both 5.0s and 3.5 EBs, and if any of my guys gotta pull a heavier trailer or haul a heavy load…….. they want the EB. It is far and away the better choice for a truck that does towing duty/work.

                      Interested to see how Aric likes his power boost after a while…. Likely go with one of those on the next replacement.

                        I have 6300 miles on it now, roughly 1500+ of those miles are towing my camper (~8k) and the XT22. Absolutely my favorite vehicle to date.
