This event has grown into a great weekend that is so much fun.

speaking of fun we are planning on some Jets pizza at the boat ramp on Saturday as some swag and awards are handed out.

we are thinking of a kneeboard throw down on Saturday to bring back some Direct Drive goodness from many of our pasts …. Maybe a 214 or X14 towing you and you get one pass to win the judges over?

Buckeye Bash 13 Updates -

Hey everyone - some exciting news to get out in front of everyone here goes -

HO/Hyperlite Sports alongside BHM Tri-Lakes Marine will be at the event mostly on Saturday but we are working on them coming in on Friday during the slalom event. (Jered and Josh and crew)

Josh from HO will bring out some items, possibly a little swag and maybe some cool demo gear.
BHM Tri-Lakes is bringing a sweet boat and will offer surf sessions and/or ride alongs for anyone interested in the latest and greatest from our favorite MasterCraft Boat Company.
Tri-Lakes is also holding a grand prize raffle for a really sweet item from their own James Repasky, so plan on checking that out.

Bash Central is hosting a small raffle as well with tickets, you can also win tickets with a new event.

Dock Cleat Rope Handling/Wrangling Event - Friday or Saturday Night - we have the dock cleating contest. If you can wrap a line on a cleat without bending down like a real dock hand you will be entered into the raffle. The best rope wrangler will also win some sweet swag.

Friday 10:00 AM Start - the Slalom Contest for the Beaver Cup (all slalom skill levels welcome), registration from 9:00 am to 9:45 am at the ramp. We will have 3 classes of skiers and you will be able to ski the course behind a sweet Prostar. Enjoy the lake all day, some early gifts may be handed out.

Friday evening - rumor of heading to Henmick's Brewery in Kilbourne (about 9 minutes north of the campgrounds) - outside seating, food trucks, bring a chair and sweatshirt, kids can play in the open areas, pets on leashes ... good stuff.

Saturday - NEW this year, the early morning meet up on the ramp area is not happening ... head straight to the water upon arrival, Get there early and barefoot, ski, surf, ride, whatever. We will do swag handouts and t-shirt handouts at lunchtime and the evening.

NEW - Saturday Kneeboard throwdown - we will have a sweet X-14 at the North pool (boats welcome to observe in the West side of the slalom course, I would not tie up with the wakes coming by ... but anchor and watch the King / Queen of Kneeboard - throwdown!) - One pass to impress the judges .... Men's / Womens / Boys / Girls Division
One pass - judges in the boat - put together as many tricks as you can and throw a big one if you must ... compete for the Crown!

1:30 ish tie up in the North end
5:00 PM pull out, meet everyone on the ramp, food truck (everyone pays), pizza (provided by Bash, donations welcome), and BYOB. - Awards at 6:30 / Raffle drawing at 6:15 ish.)
Be on the ramp by 6:00 for your boat and rig to be judged in best rig.

There is a rumour of the Rumble Bee pulling up 7 footers at 8:30 that evening on the North End ... bring your suit.

Sunday - hangover surf and slalom day on the river, enjoy the water!

Well one of our attendees is Kiel Mohrman (whose birthday may be during the event ... hmmm) ... but he is such a chill dude and talented with his hobbies that he made and donated to us a custom wake skate ... yes that is what I said ... our raffle features a sweet one of a kind - Buckeye Bash Wake Skate ... check it out!

Hey everyone only 5 more sleeps till Buckeye Bash 13. We were out at the slalom course today and water levels and the course is in great shape.

early weather forecast is good, maybe even a little cool in the evenings.

we really want to give folks a chance to enjoy the water and the opportunity boats so we will be getting started early on Friday to give our slalom skiers the best water possible. Also it sets up nice to meet at Henmicks Brewery that night, should be awesome and trying to get there by 5:00 pm

saturday get to the lake and enjoy the water, most activities will be on the water and raffle and giveaways will be during the afternoon.

Bash week is here! Hey Bashers don’t forget you can bring any older gear that you may want to sell or swap to the event. A few folks over the years have sold old skis and boards to other members ….Saturday is a prime day for that. We will even call it out during the giveaway and raffle portion of the event.

Friday Slalom is looking like a 8:30 start, air temps may be a little cool but conditions will be awesome!

Hi everyone, as we countdown to Bash, I wanted to send a note to everyone with some local rules of the O'Shaughnessy Reservoir. This reservoir is a City of Columbus Waterway and we have a great relationship with the City, and want to keep it that way.
One of the Marine Officers that patrol the water, Office Stout, reached out via email and I will paste his reminder of the local rules here below.
We really appreciated his reaching out, and will fully cooperate with Marine Enforcement to make sure we have a safe time on the water.
Also - keep in mind, that owner's are volunteering their boats for the slalom and kneeboard events, so please do respect their rules while under their care. Many of us at the event do have our USA Water Ski Insurance, Boat driver certifications and a keen interest in making sure everyone is safe.

Pasting below the email from Office Stout (I did reply and let him know we are a friendly group that is easy to work with and would offer him extra water. I also invited him to join the slalom event!)

This is a City of Columbus waterway, not State waterway, and with this alcohol is prohibited in the entire reservoir/park land surrounding it. Unlike State waterways, you can’t conceal/covertly possess or consume alcohol. Camping overnight anywhere on this waterway or park land is prohibited. Attendees must make arrangements for lodging that doesn’t include staying overnight/sleeping on boats or in tents etc. There is also no swimming/wading in the waterway beyond being in the water preparing to be towed behind a boat (skiing/surfing/wakeboarding etc). Floats and tubes are prohibited both for relaxation around an anchored vessel or being towed behind a boat. Any/all watercraft vessels (except paddleboards) must be registered and have current registration displayed. PFDs are required on every vessel including kayaks/paddleboards. They must be US Coast Guard approved PFDs, not “competition vests”. There can be no restriction of general boat traffic not related to your event on the waterway. These are specific to City laws and please note that all State laws are also in effect for general boating and navigation.
We will have Rangers and Police out in the park and on the water randomly patrolling the reservoir. I hope you have a fun event with great weather! Please reach out to me if you have any questions and please communicate this information to as many attendees that you can so we can avoid any problems this weekend. Thank you for your time.
