  • Greensberg, Ind????

    so....

There is a job in Greensberg, Ind. Anyone on here that knows the area and/or if there are lakes around? (no I cant afford a lake home but would like to be within 30 miles of Greensberg and have a place nearby to ski)

From Oconomowoc, Wi, where I have 5 lakes in a 15 minute area... (spoiled)

There is a ski club in Indy, not much around the Greensburg area that I am familiar with with the exception of Brookville Resivoir, not a typically good ski lake though. Interested in the Indy Ski club you might contact Mike Patterson at Patterson Horth Construction.

Spent a couple years in Indy from Madison, WI. Ended up driving to Michigan to ski at my folks place on the weekends. No water in Indy that isn't overcrowded and rough. Eagle Creek Resevoir was not so bad, but no ski boats. Sails and 9.9 or less if I recall correctly.

I take it greensburg is in southern IN? Most our lakes are in the north east part of the state.....lots of glacial lakes here.

Not Steuben County............the lakes here are horrible.

I guess I didnt realize how lucky we are having as many lakes to use (and disperse people)...

I was looking at Lake Santee? Or Bischoff Resivor??

My family has a house on Lake Santee. It is a private lake and you have to own a lot to put a boat on the water. They patrol the roads and water pretty regularly and check for member decals and lots numbers on every watercraft. The good news is, there are "access lots" available. I bought mine back in 2001 for $500. The other option is become really good friends with someone and get them to add your name to the title of a lot. I did this for my father several years ago so he could put his 209 on. A monetary transaction has to take place ($1 in our case) and I had to have a lawyer add him to the deed. The downside, both of us had to pay seperate dues which ran $575 last year I think. Santee is like it's sub division. They have thier own water treatment plant, marina, etc. Even if you have an access lot with no dwelling, you still have to pay a monthly water bill since every lot has sewer access.

The lake, like any, is busy on the weekends and can get very crowded. Other than that, it's great for skiing. My family was part of the original ski club and show out there. And also one of the reasons there is a "stop light" on the water to regulate skiing from dusk to dawn.... Occaisionally they set up clinics and a course from time to time.

The lots on Wisdom aren't bad, no homes for sale there as of yet. The lake itself has potential, its a young lake (by construction not attendees).
Otherwise there are plenty of ski clubs around the Indianapolis area (45 minutes north) including (2) about 25 minutes up the road on I-74. Check out www.indianawaterski.org for all the participating clubs and contact info.
I can tell you for sure that Ski Club Indy, located in Shelbyville is actively seaking members.
Good luck on your new venture.
