Shasta Lake Houseboating

Trying to finally get a houseboat trip together this year at Shasta Lake in NorCal. Any recommendations? We don't want to spend a ton as this is our first trip renting. We are thinking 10-12 adults and a Fri-Mon trip. Is this too many? We are thinking it will help defray the cost. What can we expect to spend beyond the fees quoted (fees, gas in the houseboat)?

We go to Shasta for 2-3 weeks every year. We stay at Antlers RV Park. We have rented a house boat at Antlers Marina also. We slip the boat there when at the RV Park. It's the northern most Marina on the lake and thats nice when driving down from Oregon. There are 5 MC's in our Shasta group out of 10 boats. We really like it.......

We are there on fathers day also. Typically 2 weeks in June and another in July or August. This will be our 13th consecutive year. We have been in site 77 and 79 for years. We have about 10-14 families go.

Do you guys hang in the antlers arm or go elsewhere? Just wondering how crowded that arm gets?

The "boys" do the Sac arm every morning for a couple hours then head to camp for some breakfast, pick up the families and head out towards O'Brien, (most of the time) for the rest of the day.......

ICE,Ice,Ice. Another Big Expense. We Have Used Dry Ice In The Past With Blocks In The Same Cooler. 10 -12 Folks On One Boat Is Pretty Cozy And You Should All Have Shared A Cabin,Motel, Motorhome ,Etc.Before. Once You Are On That Thing,There's No Gettin' Off. We Have Had Several Good Trips To Sugarloaf On The Sac Arm,Small Cabins In A Courtyard,Pool And Docks Right At The Waters Edge. When The Lake Is Up, Endless Glass Back Further In The Sac Or Down Salt Creek In The Am And PM. All The Boats Are Pretty Good, Silverthorn Folks Were Nice And Imagine They Still Are. Don't Rent Somewhere And Then Go To The Other Side Of The Lake,The Fuel Will Kill You,Mostly Jet Drives And They Get Real Thirsty. 5 Hour Ride To The Back Of McCloud From Silverthorn With 2 Boats In Tow. Have A Blast,Great Lake. Oroville Is A Hidden Gem,Too.

I don't recall seeing this idea brought up before, and while I am against stickers on my boat, I kind of like the idea.

I have a small "Team Master Craft" sticker on my boat that I got several years ago. I thought it was when I joined this forum, but I may have purchased it in the online store.

Don't go to Shasta, you won't have any fun. The lake is really cold, water is rough, and the beer is always warm.
Okay, kidding. It is easily my favorite place for a boating vacation. We go the second week of Sept. because the lake is empty, still warm and a nice wrap up to summer. I rent from Holiday Harbor, they are the cheapest and you get what you pay for, but as long as you have ice, gas, food, and the bathroom works, you are in business. Plus Holiday doesn't mind if you wakeboard off the top of the houseboat (see my profile pic).
Last year spent most of our time in Backbone, but there is always an empty finger you can find.

Holy crap this looks like a good time...and for sure people that throw a GREAT party. We can't make this Summer work cause we're moving back to Oregon late June/ early July AND already have plans for the Summer. But I'll work over the wife for a Summer 2013 vacation on the water. And I'll keep my eyes open to try to catch some of you guys somewhere or another.
