So, my parents are looking into getting a lake house in Central Indiana. They have been shopping around and so far have kind of narrowed the lakes they like down to Heritage Lake and Grandview Lake. I know both are private and have their own rules/HOA's etc. Any recommendations or insight to those that have been on either? Or any other Central Indiana Lakes with experience. Just FYI - Geist and Morse are not options.

I grew up on Lake Santee in Greensburg. It's private as well and about an hour and 15 minutes from Fishers. It's probably smaller than the other two, around 250 acres or so. And there is a size limit of 20 ft....although we did get the 209 on there.__________________

I don't know if Monticello is too far north, but Freeman and Shaffer are both over 1500 acres with no restrictions."In conflict, straightforward actions generally lead to engagement, surprising actions generally lead to victory."

Santee has my vote! Calm water 99% of the time. Nice community. Although I don't own any property on the lake. It is very nice. If central IN is what you are looking for that is close.
I'm a northern IN guy but it depends on where you are located.

Thanks all for the input thus far. I know they want to be within an hour and a half or so to realistically use it as much as possible. That pretty much rules out the North and Patoka.
On the wake enhancing devices for Grandview, does anyone have any real experiences with that there. I've heard there are some substantial wake boats there which sounds crazy if you can't use them to their potential.
Bbymgr, do you live on Freeman or Shaeffer? My Tristar came from Shaeffer from the original owner.
Slinkyredfoot, what didn't you like about Heritage?

Heritage was ok just seemed kind of narrow, it was just a feel. I have a friend of mine that lives there and loves it so don't let my opinion dissuade you, different strokes. We boat a a large deep natural lake in northern Indiana so I am probably a snob in this regard. Your parents might love Heritage check it out.If for some reason you start to believe you are a person with influence, just try ordering somebody else's dog around.

Where on Shafer are you Paint? Close to Norway? Or back towards Monon Bay? I have friends with a place just north of Loews Bridge. We have spent a lot of time at Mama Connies."In conflict, straightforward actions generally lead to engagement, surprising actions generally lead to victory."
