As most you know I blow through tires and milagr on my trucks like crazy. So here’s another tire review. Essentially a newer category of tire. Gives you the looks of an AT with then mileage , noise , ride comfort lt , and mileage of HT. Exactly w tire I would love.
I’ve reviewed more than few AT’s so here we go. I have roughly 15k on these new BFG’s.
This new BFG Trail Terrain tire is empty we can be. Highway noise is minimal. Very comparable to a Michelin Defender LTX M/S ( which tire I love performance wise.). Handling is great very similar in stiffness in turns and what not. Looks amazing. Bumps and potholes are absorbed very well. I get same gas mileage as the Defenders. On city roads with potholes galore they jet just not more than the defenders on the big ones. Snow traction is great. Just as good as any AT I’ve run. Wear is great. However I also rotate regularly
Now for the negatives.
This tire is slick as all heck in wet pavement. I’ve never owned a tire that slipped as much as this tire and performed so poorly on wet pavement. It’s mind boggling how poor this thing performs and imo almost dangerous.
it’s a shame this thing is so extremely terrible on wet pavement because the positives in all the other aspects are impressive.
FALKEN launched a direct competitor to this BFG Trail Terrain called the Wildpeak A/T Trail. I’ll probably check that out for my daughters terrain here shortly. For now tho I definitely wouldn’t recommend this BFG Trail terrain for anyone that sees wet pavement consistently.
