I'm not a brand loyal person either, but my first Tundra was at 400,000km's when I traded it in and never had an issue. Pushed me to buy another. The new hybrid turbo six in the TRD Pro has a lot of torq and power for a six cylinder engine and much better fuel economy then the old 5.7.

My issue with Toyota is that they like to stay years behind the technology and innovation curve in the name of reliability, which to me just is just an excuse for laziness in design. Especially the Tundra hybrid, which has a NiMH battery under the rear seats and does almost nothing for improving MPG over the non-hybrid model. It's almost as useless as Ram's E-torque system, which is only useful in the city with lots of stop and go. The only compelling hybrid pickup truck IMO is the Ford Powerboost.

Thanks everybody, all the info and opinions are very much appreciated. I finally quit waffling and ended up with an '18 RAM 1500 5.7 8spd 3.92 axle. Time will tell if I made a good decision.

Care to elaborate? I was thinking about a Tundra as my next truck.
