That looks pretty useful, but not sure my OCD can put up with the off center body line.

My boss was talking about this today. Now that I see it.......what is the point? Trying to keep up with GM and that goofy f'ing tailgate they released?

I remember nautique had an unsymmetrical windshield for a few years on their slalom tug.

I like it. For years I've carried just my tools in my pickup or avalanche bed as I'd meet my crew(s) on the job as they were in vans or box trucks. To be able to reach in 2' further to grab stuff rather than jumping up on the tailgate would be super convenient. Hard to believe it took this long for someone to think about this angle. Although now I'm back in a van most days....

I keep a 7 iron in the bed of my Avalanche because it's great to reach all the things that role to the front. Thought about getting one of those old people grabber claw things, but this was free and has more uses. Also less embarrassing to carry around.

Hahaha, it's funny how OCD can be found in the most unusual of places.

Why do we have to mess with the tailgate?

                    It’s perfectly useful as-is.

On the new GM multi folding tailgate.... My neighbor banged his up pretty good. Dropped it down to use as a step and didn't realize his trailer hitch receiver would hit it. He now has a less than 2000 mile new truck with a dented gate. He is volatile over it.
Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.

Boat hook works great for this

I participated in a GM consumer evaluation of their full size trucks 5 years ago. Many of the features on their 2019 models were part of the evaluation. The split tailgate was one that they were super excited about and many people in the group liked it until I pointed out that if you leave your hitch ball mount in the receiver or have a trailer hooked up you will damage the tailgate when you use it. No one had considered that situation.

Man, I guess the good ol functional design was just not cool enough.
