The above is sooooo true. GM threw away a chance to join in on the Wrangler success but instead decided to make yet another overpriced and slow selling crossover SUV. It is a nice car but they once again read the market wrong while Ford hit it on the money with the new Bronco.

On the tow rating..... I had a CJ5 with the inline 6 and pulled a 3500 lb Sea Ray that sat on a 900 lb trailer. It was always a thrilling adventure and unsafe at practically any speed. It hopped, bounced and barely could stop even with well maintained brakes on the trailer. Steering corrections had to be strategically made between the hops to be effective.
The problem with towing with the Jeep had nothing to do with power, it had plenty of torque to do the job. The problems were primarily due to the short wheel base, tiny brakes and the light weight (2700 lbs.) of the vehicle. That Sea Ray basically tossed the Jeep all over the road whenever it felt like it. I see similar problems towing with these new Broncos but nothing nearly as bad as my beloved CJ5. The 2 door specifically will have a very short wheel base and is estimated to weigh about 4000 lbs. Don't count on a package like that to pull anything more that it's own weight comfortably/safely.

I have a '68 bronco and a JKU - and this new bronco is looking sweet.
Jeep needed some competition in the market - and Ford usually does pretty well with design and overall function - which will force Jeep to step up their game.
I would be pretty hesitant to take a new rig out and beat the crap out of it offroad, so I'm not in the market for a new bronco... I don't mind scratching the JKU- so it works for me...but there is no doubt that the new bronco will perform and function much better. The question is not whether life exists after death, but whether you were alive before death - Osho
