  • Foilers?

    Anyone foiling on this board?

I build my own boards, and foil boxes.
Current setup behind my 07 X30 is an axis 1300mm wing, ultra short fuse and 400mm rear wing.

Give a holla out to a fellow foilbrain!

Just got a Slingshot hover glide foil wake v3. Not very good yet, but seems pretty fun so far.

There has been a few posts but doesn't appear to be too popular here. I ride an Armstrong HS1850 foil w HS232 tail and 72CM mast on a basic slingshot board.

Like the riding the mellow wave at 10.5 mph. Slower speed widens wave and you can get way outside the curl. Foiling when it gets bumpy is like being in a terrain park. Lots of fun in conditions that suck for other water sports.

Totally. I’ve been a high impact sports athlete my whole life and pushing 41 in my physical self, feeling like 50, but still mentally 21, so the foil is right up my alley.

It has taken over our boating time, so much fun and doesn't require a huge wake.

Airwear, that's such a great shot. Really shows why more boaters should give foiling a try.

Yes, although it isn't nearly as easy as it may look, and how you drive the boat for people getting out of the water makes a huge difference. Have had many great wake surfers try, but really struggle as they rely too much on the pull of the boat for balance as opposed to just using the pull of the boat for support. We have found that hardly giving any throttle when getting someone up is the best way, although they need to then balance on the board as opposed to using the pull of the boat for their balance. If you give too much throttle they just go right up on the foil and crash again and again and again.

I love our original slingshot and worked my up to the highest mast which is very fun. Feels like you’re flying!

This year I screwed up and got the 99cm wing for the front and installed the trailing fin upside down. Resolved that but haven’t tried it since.

Excited to get back up on it jf I can figure out the 99cm. Advice welcomed!

I have a liquid force wake foil. I’m having trouble staying up on the foil part, thinking I need a bigger mast or wing or something.

Bigger front wing provides a lot more lift and stability. When I was using Slingshot 68 it would go on and off foil much more erratically. Larger wing (Armstrong 1850) has much smoother lift and doesn't stall if you slow up. Not sure about the other brands tho.

As Airwear said you can go really slow getting out of water. Like just a little faster than what it takes to flip up a wakesurf board. If driver accelerates right as you come out of water you smoothly go up on foil. Even when I felt confident on foil it was really hard to get up until we figured this out.

I am by no means an expert but I’d suggest starting with a longer mast. Longer mast makes it harder to get up at first but then more fun when you do. With it you have a wider range to move up and down without popping the foil out or crashing the board back onto the water. It wasn’t till I got going on the taller mast that I actually had fun. I have whatever the longest slingshot is which I think is 39”.

I regret changing my wing for now because I’ve got to relearn it, however the larger 99cm wing should allow for throwing the rope eventually which looks fun.

Took a look at liquid force foils. Not sure which you have but doesn't look like you can buy components to replace either the mast or wing anyway. Don't look like a very efficient design IMO. Slingshot has a decent rep for low cost foils but they have their limits too. When I went from shorter slingshot mast to the 60 I could feel a lot of mast flex. With longer Armstrong 72 mast I don't feel any flex at all.

If you are getting up on the foil and getting push from the wake, try pumping the board up and down to create lift to stay high on the mast. Adjusting mast in track also effects lift. Move forward for more lift and back for less. When starting out it is better to have less lift so you don't breach as soon as you get on foil.

I’ve got the 2.0. Looks like there are replacement wings and stuff.

Aric size of that foil and mast look fine. Must be the driver. LOL
