Weight in the bow will make the wave longer and cleaner. Weight in the rear helps the height. While I don't like small wakes, I prefer them be longer and cleaner than I do tall, all 3 is where its at though.

My surf wake is usually even longer than shown, but I just grabbed a quick crew and headed out to try the new board. It is still longer than it looks like in the pic, the spray from the board is distorting it some.

In the pic above, I have a 600lb sac almost full on one side of bow, center sac full, driver, two passengers in boat, 75lb lead plate under them, rear side ballast full and 300lbs of lead in that locker, and the rope handler on the back.

I agree with Cary. Weight in the bow will make the wave longer and cleaner. We run 700#'s in the bow. Here is a link to a clip that shows our wave height and length. IMO the length of the wave is just as important as the height. If you are going to do any type of trick you will need the longer face of the wave to perform the trick.

200 pounds of lead up front.

Sometimes all you need is a larger board. My buddy is 5' 10, 150lbs and i'm 6' 185 but use the same board and he can go all day on my wake and i still struggle.
