Weight in the bow will make the wave longer and cleaner. Weight in the rear helps the height. While I don't like small wakes, I prefer them be longer and cleaner than I do tall, all 3 is where its at though.
My surf wake is usually even longer than shown, but I just grabbed a quick crew and headed out to try the new board. It is still longer than it looks like in the pic, the spray from the board is distorting it some.
In the pic above, I have a 600lb sac almost full on one side of bow, center sac full, driver, two passengers in boat, 75lb lead plate under them, rear side ballast full and 300lbs of lead in that locker, and the rope handler on the back.
