Just purchased new X 24. I am hoping to get some advice on setting up the boat for optimal surf wave. Half of family/friends are goofy half regular. I need help with both sides. If extra lead ballast is necessary where should it be placed? What about adjusting factory settings on speed and trim tabs? Stock wave was impressive but of course we always want more. I’ll gladly take advice from anyone who has had a chance to figure the boat out.

If not doing transfers I have regular side set at; front, mid , and port tanks 100%. SB 80%. Tab is 50% for steep. 65% mellow. Speed vary from 11.3 - 11.7. This is with three people and 300 in lead. Very clean and long face when surfing mellow at 11.7. We use stock settings fro both when working on transfers. With full boat more speed is usually necessary. Listing the boat a little to surf side really gets a clean face.

The X24 likes a little extra weight on the port side. If I had 300 pounds of lead, I would probably put it all under the port side coffin seat. Then fill everything else to 100%, including the switchback tank. I have found that if you do not list it to the port side, you get a weird line of wash coming off the boat into the face of the port wave.
even with the weight offset to that side, it will still throw a clean goofy wave, so I don't move the lead, just leave it there.
I ride surf style, so I like a steep wave. I usually use just enough tab to clean the wave up, which is usually 45-55% for the regular side wave depending on the day and where people are sitting. That leaves a tall, steep and powerful wave. If I want to mellow it out, I just add in about 10% more surf tab.
I don't remember the settings for goofy, I just don't know many people that surf that way, and they are novices, so I just shoot from the hip on that one.
I also don't like the stock 10.9mph... the wave feels soft and mushy. So, for beginners I go like 11.2mph; I personally like to go about 11.6, which lengthens the wave out and gives you more pop on the airs and stuff.
I spent time on a handful of X24's, using everything from stock ballast to 1,900# over stock...I really think the sweet spot is about 400-600#'s of lead midship, ~75% of which would be on the port side. The question is not whether life exists after death, but whether you were alive before death - Osho
