I'd use the 150 and some of the starbrite cleaner and then the brightener followed with 75/25.

    • How many times over the summer do you put the 75/25 back on? How many coats do you put on to start with?

      • New to teak what is 75/25?

        • Boiled Linseed Oil and Paint Thinner....

Mixing these two actually works well for several things outside of just Teak (ever needed to refurbish black plastics? :-) ).

This is basically the same stuff that you find in Teak Oil to my understanding, but cheaper and in bulk.

1 quart will be PLENTY with much too spare!

It's 75% linseed oil(boiled or otherwise) and 25% mineral spirits or generically paint thinner.

              • I have some leftover Brazilian Ipe, so I am toying with this idea of a new teak deck as a winter project.

I figure using the current fiberglass platform and brackets as a template should make everything pretty straight forward?

Anyone have experience doing it this way?

IPE wood is awesome. All of our outdoor furniture is IPE and has held up perfect.

                  • I've put 3 coats of linseed oil on my deck and it seems like it's getting lighter. Is there a trick to getting it to go darker?

                    • Need repair suggestions on swim platform 87 PS

Has anyone undertaken repairs on a split part of the platform? Mine is split on the top so that it
could pinch someone or cause a splinter. Perhaps seadek placed over the platform? Is that a possibility?

Take it off and replace it with a new rail; no need to go to the expense of a complete overhaul.
I think I read somewhere here you could replace the entire platform for $300.00+ change. That's if you choose to go new. I think you can make it look just as nice with a little effort: and you can say,"Look what I did".
                        Good luck

                          • After putting a couple of linseed oil on my deck and cured for months, its kind of sticky. Is this normal? Can I fix it?

It seems that if you go on too thick and/or do they let it dry throughly between coats, sticky is what you'll get. It'll go away through the season. I suppose you could clean it down and prep it; start over.

You didn't let it dry enough. It should not be sticky at all. Put it in the sun.
