Dry time before putting teak in water
I just finished putting a coat of teak oil on a swim deak I disassembled, cleaned and sanded. I have a question I was not able to find reading the threads. How long does it need to dry before I can put it on the boat in the water? If its been drying in the sun most of the day is it ok to go skiing with it this evening? Or does it need more time?

That said, if it's no longer tacky to the touch you can get it wet no worries.-Tim

OK - I have what is probably a dumb question but I can't seem to find the answer. We have a 2016 X30 w/teak platform. Was going to oil it this off season. Is the best way to remove the swim platform to unscrew from the brackets? Looks to be what most have done in the pictures I see posted. The platform does not appear to remove easily with the brackets left on. It folds down, but doesn't seem to remove altogether from what I can tell.

The platform will remove with the brackets in place. There is a pin and a bolt on each. Comes off easy. The bolt has some sort of acrylic washers on each side of platform bracket that can be a pain to re-install. (not enough hands if you're alone) I'd be leery of unscrewing the screws. They will never be as tight when you re-install them. But for a one-time removal, I think they'd be fine. But I'd remove the platform with brackets.Prior boats - (3) X14's, (3) Prostars, and a Tristar.

'02 Maristar 230 teak re-pop
Here are photos showing the result of my rainy Sunday efforts. The boat is an '02 Maristar that had set neglected for quite a while. I have committed to bring it back around. The swim platform is an easy one......just elbow grease and time. Teak is so wonderful. Notice the bird droppings on wood in the B4. Yes, i cheated a bit and used a planer. I was super careful and ended up losing less than one mm of thickness.....still cheating though. After photo is with first coat of 80/20 Linseed and mineral spirits. Several more coated to come. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
