Dude, how are you guys getting your teak to shine like that??? I apply several coats over the course of a month, letting it sit to dry between coats. Are you lightly sanding between coats??? I use golden teak oil from starbrite, in the clear bottle to see the golden color of the teak oil.

      Thanks

      Rob

I don't know about anybody else, but I sand mine with 400 grit sand paper if the wood isn't smooth to the touch before I start. Then apply a couple of coats and let it soak. I have only sanded it one time, I wouldn't do it all the time. I use meguiars #46 teak oil.

That looks great 03! I oiled mine last weekend, but it's going to need some sanding. Did you have to worry too much about messing up the fiberglass or rubber strips when you sanded? Did you mask them off or were you just very careful in those areas?

Yes, I masked it all off before I sanded it. I statred with 600 grit and wasn't getting anywhere so I moved to 400 and it seemed to do quite well. Try not to sand over the rubber and sand long ways with the wood strips. But take the tape off before appling teak oil. The oil and the glue off the tape make a nasty mess.

PM me your e-mail and I will send you pics of what I did if you like.

Thanks for the complement, but it's a pain in the butt to take care of.

After a week of hard ski, wakeboard and surf use. She looks as good as new. Letting the teak bake in the sun after oil application really helps......

If you don't fall, you're not trying hard enough.

Thanks but I don't want to spend that much money for what a rag and some cleaner could do. Maybe some other time, but for now......

Worth every penny to me. We trailer a lot and it's much easier to take them off and throw them in the washer instead of cleaning with a rag, then cleaning the bugs off your vinyl.....
